It's me who typed the above long comment, sorry if my English is bad. I am from India and live in US on a work visa and so apologies for my bad English. I wanted to convey that this laptop comes with 1 TB Toshiba HDD (spinning) and very noisy and heat and this laptop has empty NVMe M.2 slot.
Your language is just fine, don't apologize for it. Lack of tech knowledge on the other end was the problem.

The description shows 'Win11' so why does everyone talk about upgrading from Windows 10? Also, would my daughter be able to play Roblox and similar kids' games with an upgrade to SDD?

Here is the photo of the laptop inside - motherboard, to show empty NVMe SSD slot and other basic details from this same laptop I bought in the July 2022 front page deal from same eBay seller (very good seller).

https://ibb.co/DzgVfFy

https://ibb.co/gT82JT3

Thanks. Not sure if the above pic is helpful, I tried to text it with whatever I can

One memory is Samsung brand 4 GB DDR4 (1Rx16) and another memory is RAMAXEL brand 8 GB DDR4 (1Rx8)

HDD brand is Toshiba (spinning), very noisy, gets real hot, I could feel it my palm while typing in keyboard

WiFi supports 500 MBPs internet, not tested for 1GBPs as I don't have higher speed internet at home to test

This laptop comes with Win 10 OS pre installed and has Win 10 serial key (just print out sticker) pasted by the seller on the back side and I upgraded to Win 11 very easily and the HP Support Assistant app automatically installed all drivers. Took 2-3 hours and several restarts but worth it.

I installed NVMe M.2 SSD stick in the empty slot of this laptop (they gave 1 screw too to hold the stick) and cloned the OS partition from the Toshiba HDD using Macrium Reflect 8 free clone utility and it works flawlessly as it's cloning so no need of Windows serial key.

I am going to replace the HDD with SSD 2.5 SATA next week as my order is delayed at shipping

This laptop is as good as brand new and no traces of any usage or scratches or blemish, it came with brown color original regular branded box that has "HP Refurbished" (something like this, don't remember exactly),

17inch screen is bright and good as I compared it with my other Costco 2019 Thanksgiving bought HP 15.6 Touchscreen laptop and don't see any difference, I use external monitor anyway using the HDMI/USB KVM Switch (bought in AliExpress for $12) and use one keyboard and one wireless mouse for both these laptops.

Apologies if my English is bad, I am from another country and surviving here on a work visa and has strict budget for almost everything so looking for cost effective survival and hence this good laptop is a big deal to me.

after changing to ssd and nvme m2, is the fan sound still noisy? also what about the heat as the laptop is thin. The other question I have is about the battery, how many hrs the battery holds and what it's battery cycle count? are the batteries brand new?

The moment the 1TB Toshiba HDD is removed, the noise & heat went away and super silent. Entire laptop inside outside its brand new and the battery is lithium, I don't remember but it was higher than 3450mAh new HP brand battery only, no bulging or damage to battery. I don't know how to read the cycle count, guide me and I will run that utility and report.

You can easily generate a battery report by running the powercfg /batteryreport command. Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin), type powercfg /batteryreport at the command prompt, then hit the Enter key. The report will be saved under C:\Windows\System32 as battery-report.

Ouch, 17.3" display but only 1080p
Thank goodness. Anything over 1080p at that size is a waste.

If your eyes are that bad it's time to see an optometrist...

If you're expecting more than 1080p on a $300 laptop you should see a psychiatrist.

Can this laptop make use of the Gen4 M.2 drives or is the extra speed wasted?
