They have been a good pair of headphones with an upgraded balanced cable (Cardas Light), they sound like a closed pair of Sennheiser HD600 with similar soundstage. YMMV with amp used - mine is Fostex A4BL
or a laptop or samsung s21 ultra... just trying to figure if I already have a quality source?

I'd rate them better than the Beyerdynamic Drop 177x (unless you really like clinical) & far better than the Dan Clark Aeon Open X (disappointing tbh), Sennheiser 6xx (better mid-range but poorer soundstage), 58x or B&W P7 all of which I own.
I'd add easy to drive on my THX-AAA 789. Replaced the stock cables with balanced...at that price get them.
