These are shit, the headband breaks and there is literally zero customer service, no exaggeration.
I'm waiting until they are $328.99.
I was hesitant to buy the Elegia's when they first came out, but when they dropped to $400 a year ago, I snagged them and I have no regrets. They are amazing!
For $330 this is a legit slickdeal!!!

FYI the headband is garbage on these and will eventually break.
Just because some of them break does not mean all of them will. The LG G4 phone had a boot-loop issue with some of them, and if you read the online comments, it was unavoidable, but I have a G4 that I bought at release that still works fine. Both situations are classic cases of those who are disappointed making the most noise.
Wouldn't it be better to just finance some lightly used Aryas and call it done?
If you don't go up the food chain, How are you gonna know what hp is good for you?
Anyone on this journey should at least try (not necessarily own)the HD600's/6xx, dt770/880, akg 361/371's, some planar and other sets to get a feel for what's out there.

And if you stay side-grading forever, have you really gone up said foodchain? I've used k7xx, 6xx, 4xx, audio technica ath-ad900x, shp9500 and porta pros. As much as I've enjoyed that variety, there is a part of me that thinks I'd be more content with something premium yet attainable. Many people getting into something new don't spring for more expensive options because it seems irresponsible; they're unsure if they're really passionate about it. But the journey of exploring different sounds didn't make me laser focused on a particular brand or voicing, so much as curious about what lies beyond mid-fi.

Yea but good luck getting them fixed if they do break.
It's a rather common design flaw with focal headphones that goes up to their higher end headphones too.

focal headphones are statistically more likely to physically break just like how hifiman headphones are statistically more likely to have drivers fail. focal's criticism is perfectly valid

It's hard to say either way without having the actual stats. I have a pair of Focal Spirit One S, which were at the low end of the Focal headphone line when I bought them seven years ago, and the headband is still in perfect shape. If Focal's headbands were truly terrible, nobody would buy their headphones, regardless of how good they sound, and Focal would be out of the headphone business before long.

just go to the audiophile community and see how often somebody complains about the build quality of the hd6xx or the hd800. sennheisers are way more popular than hifiman and focal while also having way less complaints.

I am aware of the quality of the Sennheisers, I own several (HD6XX, HD599, Momentum 2), but that still does not explain why Focal's alleged crappy quality hasn't caused them to go out of the headphone business.

Not just on the Elegia's. There was a guy on Reddit who had a broken headband on his CLEARS. That was my endgame. And oh yeah, the clipping issues and the occasional dead driver.
