This set looks awesome when it's done, but just a warning, most of the pieces are 1x1 plates that you have to alternate colors every 2 pieces. It's a fairly tedious build and your fingers will be sore after. But it's worth the build if you played the old Sonic games and plan to display it... Also the piece count sounds better than it actually is, since most are 1x1 plates in the same 2 colors.

The price could be related to manufacturing issues. I know they are planning to open up a Lego factory in Virginia so that they can ramp up US supply.

The Sonic figure ruins it for me. Looks worse than the first version of Sonic from the movie.
