FYI this is the basic plan; no Howard for those who care.

FYI, there's some other BS fee attached that ends up making the total $120ish. That said we did this last go around, I don't regret it.

The AMEX offer is for a streaming subscription so you won't need a radio id.

This is what I was considering. I didn't know anyone who did it or if there was something hidden that I didn't see. Now I can't find it. It isn't on the AMEX site.
Look at message 373.

Ah crap. Thanks for the info. I don't think I have any need for streaming in the house. I just wanted it for the car. Thanks again.

It works even better than satellite in your car, if you have a smart phone and and a data plan.

I have Spotify, so I can use that. That AMEX Platinum plan furnishes everything satellite does, except it's streaming through the phone, and computer I assume? I don't care about Howard Stern, but radio classics and sport games, as well as music is what I'd use.
Thanks

It has hundreds of more stations than the satellite service and also has many custom Pandora channels.

Wow. They have become hardcore difficult.

Had a bad experience. Normally I don't. Tried for 5 year deal ($150)- Loaded $190 from gift (service) cards to account since those are non refundable. They wouldn't budge an inch. Supervisors were horrible. Demanded my money back via check! They gave my credit card on file the money back via a "service event" refund. Luckily I only paid $130 for the $190. So made some money.

Will keep $60 platinum plan until June then figure things out.

Good luck.

Well I was hopeful after seeing some success here, but alas 2016 Toyota didn't have the offer available. Best offer was $5.99 a month and he said he didn't see any 3 or 5 year plan options available. Sad to actually cancel after threatening to for years lol. Maybe my car will be old enough in a few more months.

So many free alternatives, why pay?
I don't have unlimited data on my phone, so streaming alternative free services isn't a good option in my car. Currently I mainly play local stored music from my phone to car stereo via bluetooth. I did try XM for 3 months, but found I was not using it as much as anticipated, and the song selection was not so appealing. Found myself channel hunting too often. But at $3 a month, considering giving it another try.

Some questions for anyone that knows:

1) Is this 3 year deal locked to a particular vehicle receiver? What if I upgrade to a new car stereo in same car, do I lose this deal service?

2) If I sell my car before 3 years are up, can I transfer the remainder to a different car, or do I lose the service?

I was told in chat that it was transferable. There are posts in this thread that say the contrary. I decided to go check in the T&C. It's been a few weeks at this point but I think it said "yes" on transferring the service to another receiver/car but that they reserved the right to refuse.

When I did this for my last car, it was transferrable, but that meant getting a refund of the value left on the old plan and using it towards the new car at the "regular" price. It was not transferrable by moving the months left on the old car to the new car.

To be fair to Sirius.,.they don't control those fees. Those are licensing fees they have to pay for the music and content. They don't get a penny of that $

Also streaming is included as well for all Sirius packages. So you can use this with your phone. Or even better is using with Alexa or google speakers. "Hey google play (channel name or number) on Sirius XM' and it will play. Perfect for when you have company over and want background music. Or for me I use it for music during the day working.
Not exactly. Yes they pay license fees, but they always have. They also pay Howard Stern millions of dollars as they have for years. This all plays into the cost side of the business, and on the sales side they have ALWAYS varied their subscription rates. It's like the old long distance calling plan rate game. Depending on who you call, or when you call, you can get a better deal. If you finally cancel, then you get a GREAT deal. It's a business model that works that has a scam level involved. It does not directly fluctuate based on the cost of licensing, the way gas prices do. There are so many thousands of different licensing deals and term lengths that they have with every artist, record label, etc...it in no way can daily or monthly directly affect the rate.

The only problem I have with them is the auto price switch at the end of term. And you have to deal with operator to make any account changes.
