Love how people like to point out how cheaply made a cheap laptop is 😂 of course it's cheaply made or it wouldn't be so cheap now, would it?
I've had this laptop for about 9 months. It also has a fingerprint reader. Has very good screen and excellent speakers. No complaints so far. I did add extra 8 GB to ram but I'm not sure it needed it
barrel plug and standard 250nits. seems no USB-C charging according to HP Laptop 14-dq2053cl Product Specifications [hp.com]
1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate
2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate
1 HDMI 1.4b
1 AC smart pin
1 headphone/microphone combo

there is an empty bay for an additional 2.5" drive, but a mounting kit is needed

Awesome deal. Keeping the 2-year AllState warranty in mind, it may be a better value than when it was Front-Paged as new for $360-$390.

How are the speakers on this?

Any chance this is one of those odd HDMI ports that is supposedly 1.4b but can actually push [email protected] like HDMI 2.0?

According to this video [youtube.com] it looks like it can actually take a 2.5" SATA disk drive but only if one can successfully acquire the propriety cable/bracket from HP. (I'm not 100% certain that video is showing this laptop, and the video creator says it is difficult to get the 2.5" drive connection parts from HP. This [ebay.com] kit from a seller in China may work.)

Looks like it is bit of a pain to remove the bottom to add more RAM or upgrade the SSD. Still doable though.

Good deal.

I can only speak for windows 10 but I've noticed it's gotten more RAM hungry in recent years. The more RAM you have the more it uses. However since most machines now have SSD's performance isn't impacted as much when the paging file gets used. I'm not doing much on my clean installation of windows 10 but I noticed it goes past 8GB. I used to think even 4GB was enough but I certainly think 8GB is the bare minimum now.

Getting the RAM running in dual-channel is a good idea even if you don't care about the capacity.

"very good" screen is a stretch, while subjective, I would describe the screen as ok or mediocre, but not even close to "very good". Color range is on the low end.

Good value for the price, but this is a cheap built laptop.

Whatever, it's not that cheap, compared to the new price a year ago when this model was all the rage. Love the TD on saying the truth about the screen, it's not very good, if you think it is, you haven't seen a very good screen.
Can you recommend a laptop with a 'very good screen' in this price range?

Dude your expectations are comparing a 260$ laptop to something that is 600$. Your theory is laughable
