Didn't the previous gens of the Cube come with an IR extender? This one doesn't.

Too bad the ethernet port is 10/100. If you are trying to play 4k UHD rips it will struggle. My Firestick 4k stuttered all the time and I tried using the Amazon branded usb ethernet adapter to fix it. It didn't work.

Then I got the Cable Matters brand and it fixed it up.

Unbelievable that it is still no gigabit Ethernet, still USB 2.0, still 2gb ram and 16gb storage

I hear yeah and wanted a way to get some of USB 2.0's max of 480Mbps max transfer speeds. I thought this might work and low and behold, it works exceptionally well:

I'm getting between 250-350Mbps consistently which is what others report as well. I've since wired up all 4x of my 4K FireTV/Max sticks and they work flawlessly for streaming 4K content from apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix, but also local content like Plex that uses 50-100Mbps, depending on quality of the content. No lag and easily worth the $15-20 per device to get them wired.

So TLDR: get USB Gigabit ethernet adapter, get OTG cable that allows USB connection and supplies power/data to Fire TV stick, connect and profit.

Upscaling is where it's at, only reason why I ever wanted a Shield. Now you can get this for under $75 when it goes on sale.

uh when exactly is this just released product going to be $75? furthermore, what is going to be upscaled on the device? Prime only video? Everything? that's the only way itll compete with the shield.

It's already marketed that anything that plugs into the HDMI input is upscaled, so it would be weird to not have non Amazon apps upscaled. If you want it for cheap, trade in a junk device and get 20% coupon. This will go on sale during holidays, (probably $89 or $99) and you get another $28 off on top.
