If you didn't know, this dude is an Intel salesman here on Slickdeals. If you go to an AMD deal, you will see him say "Buy Intel" or "wait for new Intel CPU coming". If you go to an Intel deal, you will see him say "Buy buy buy". It is hilarious.

its a beast of a processor but with its power requirements, no available motherboards under $200 yet, and 6000cl30 still falling in price, it would wait on this. if you have to build now, the 5900x/5950x have fallen so far down down, easily ran on any decent $130 b550, and 32gb of 3600cl16 for dirt cheap, there is just too much bang for buck to be had there.

Not really. A decent aio or air cooler will be fine. Also, a small change in the bios cuts power consumption by 50ish watts and temps by 20c.

I believe some 7000s could drop further. After GN and others ran tests and basically told folks (without actually saying it) to hold off this Gen (and the possibility of even the new low end mobos coming in at $200) due to total costs involved unless you have a low end cpu. Also, most are holding out for the X3d version of the 7000 series.

Because they kept the same size package to allow AM4 cooler compatibility and I'm sure some assembly line efficiencies. But they switched to LGA with a big increase in pin (pad) count which meant covering the entire bottom of the package with pads and leaving no room for the resistors etc that would usually be there. So they moved the resistors to the top and the IHS makes room for them. This isn't new in processors, server CPUs have done this for a while, but it is new in consumer chips.

Similar how ppl undervolt Intel CPUs. However 360 aio was used in the test. Would like to see temperature in different tests with a 240 or 120 aio or air-cool.

performs better? Did you forget they used AMD's several year-old processors on the comps? yeah, processors are getting much better. Quickly. But that is simply just not true. Also the guy above just mentioned it is not 95c with liquid cooling. Intel fanboys always have it out to slander AMD…

It's always a good idea to wait and see what all your options are. As with the 40-series VS RDNA3, it's best to see what Raptorlake is like VS Zen4. That being said if you can wait longer, the 3D VCache models will probably win this generation but I get that some people need a build now. Just not optimal without seeing the whole picture.

The margins are roughly 10-20% for retailers on Zen4 unlike Intel's so to see them discount this much on the $549 MSRP 7900X shows how slow they're moving inventory. Most people are probably just playing the waiting game for cheaper boards and scope out the competition.
