A month ago, it was "buy a membership, get a $30 gift card", so obviously I did that when I bought my bike rack. Not sure how often this comes up, but even at a $20 gift card, $10 for the life time membership is still worth it.

Not really saving $20. It is $20 to spend later. So it is like buying a $120 gift card for $100. If you plan on spending all of it, this is a good deal, but if you don't then you kind of forcing yourself to spend more than you need to.
