Philips Hue Play Sync Box marked down $50 from $249.99 to $199.99 at Best Buy. Then, you get an additional $50 Best Buy E-gift card emailed to you at purchase.

The purpose of the sync box is to allow Philips Hue Play lights sync with your TV.
Things to note: *Must have Philips Hue Lights and the Bridge *Will not sync with built in streaming apps on a SmartTV, you would also need a fire stick, gaming console, or chrome cast (something that plugs into the hdmi) to play the apps to have it sync

You lose 4K 120hz option on consoles if you use this
So basically the order or ports is you plug your Shield/PS5/Xbox/etc into this and then the HDMI goes out of this into your TV. This only works with external devices of course though - you can't use the built-in OS on your tv to send signal to this.
Correct - this only supports EXTERNAL HDMI inputs. There aren't any TV's out there that I know of that have HDMI out abilities.

Yup you should have no issues. https://www.theverge.com/21272142...te-harmony

When it released it only supported HDR10 but in 2020 was updated with firmware. TBh I had one on my TV but ended up returning it because of signal issues. I know most love theirs though. I had a Dreamscreen back in the day (which Philips acquired and potentially created this with) and miss the simplicity of it but this is the only other option out there unless you want to go the homemade route (which options do exists but don't support dolby vision) or the govee route which uses a camera (and has a miniscule delay)

So it works only with external sources of signal, and doesn't when I watch TV using Netflix (or other app) I have already preinstalled on my TV. Am I right?

I've always had an interest in getting one of these. But now I'm concerned after hearing you say you had signal issues. Would you mind if I asked what those were?

Just it didn't like that I had devices that were "always on" like my apple tv and it wouldn't switch well automatically to my ps5. Also, sometimes it wouldn't display the lights correctly and it was bugging me.

No...you would wire the output of the receiver into this box and pass through to the TV. It what I have done. I think there is a setting for ArC or something

If you want to have a solution for your tv then you can try the govee device but that requires you to mount a small camera on your tv. Hue is far more powerful and versatile but it is more pricey

Good price for this. I've had it for a while and love it. You can set up multiple entertainment areas too (but only use one at a time). I have my lights synced where we watch tv and IMHO it improves the viewing experience, making it more immersive. You can also sync to music and have it change lights with the audio.

One mildly annoying thing I discovered last weekend. I just finished putting hue lights in the backyard. I have 11 outdoor lights total. I set up the backyard as a separate entertainment area in the hue app and will play music from ApplyTV to Receiver (through Sync Box). Having the outdoor lights sync to the music is fun for a gathering… but Hue has a limit of 10 lights in an entertainment area. I had to choose 1 light to leave out. Not something that will impact most use cases, but if you have plans beyond just watching you should know that only 10 lights can be controlled by the Sync Box at any one time.

And Govee doesn't require external inputs.
