  1. Log in to the My Verizon App (Android or iOS)
  2. From the My Verizon App, tap on the Verizon Up icon on the lower right
  3. Find the section of "Bonus Rewards"
  4. Click "Claim"
  5. Scroll Down page to find "Unique Code"
  6. Click "Use Now"
  7. You will be directed to open Starbucks Rewards App (Android or iOS)
  8. In Starbucks App, Sign into your account or Join Rewards Program (free to join)
  9. 50 Stars (enough for free brewed hot coffee, bakery item or hot tea) will be loaded to your account

I turned OFF the Open supported links option on Android and somehow that got the Use Now button in the Verizon app to open Starbucks where it gave me the message about seeing the bonus stars in 24 hours.

Easy way to get to the option, long press the Starbucks app, hit the "i" on the top right, scroll down to "Open by default", tap the option "Open supported links" to turn it off. I immediately switched to the Verizon app and the Use Now button worked right away.

Here's what worked for me on a Samsung phone (w/Android 12) but YMMV:

Uninstalled Starbucks app and then when I tapped on "use now" in the Verizon Up section of the My Verizon app, it went to the Google Play store automatically so that I could download/install the Starbucks app again. Downloaded/installed Starbucks app, opened it and signed in (I turned off biometric login if that mattered) and then got a message in the Starbucks app that the points had been applied.

Before doing this, when I'd tap "use now", it wouldn't open the Starbucks app automatically.

also had this issue on android. i have an iphone and it opened up right away with a notification of points. has something to do with verizon opening default apps. works like a charm on ios.
