I bought one of these, along with it's big brother (65") 3 years ago. Both are going strong.

Picked up the 55" model 55S20 from Walmart Black Friday deals in 2020 for $150. Still working great. The Netflix app freezes if you are scrolling for a while, but I just close the app (sometimes reboot the TV) and it works fine again. That's the only issue I've had with mine. I love the Roku OS, very easy to use and has many apps compared to other OS ( LG WebOS, Samsung, etc). If you are in the market for a cheap 55" this would be a good option.

I have one and would not recommend except for a bedroom where you are watching straight on... the viewing angle is horrible and colors fade when viewed from even slightly off center.

Also, in general, for Roku, I would much rather have an external roku box than a TV with a Roku os, the difference being the remote with external box is radio frequency (works any direction its pointed or under covers, etc) vs infrared (has to be pointed at tv), plus the headphone jack on remote and the voice control.

I also bought 2 a few years back. One of them has permanent screen damage from shipping and I was never able to get it replaced or serviced, even with the 2 year allstate plan I bought with it. Nobody will take responsibility for the scratches and dots inside the panel.

I have one of these. Works great. Have had it for 3ish years now I think? My only complaint would be that it doesn't get very bright. Watching House of the Dragon last week was a challenge - so dark!

I have the 55.. works ok but constantly shows overheating warning when streaming 4k from any service. Since it's a kitchen TV I use it for streaming cable via Spectrum app and YouTube

Bought this during the Black Friday $150 deal in 2020 and it's been running like a champ. No issues at all.

Did anyone buy the $145 55" TCL 4-Series from last holiday season?
That deal seems too good to be true.

App freezes and reboot required...I mean I think you mean it's working fine for what you paid for it. But I wouldn't define that as working "great." My relative that bought this TV also has had similar freezing issues. And per above I think viewing angles aren't great at all. But hey it's a cheap Chinese copycat so who cares

TVs are "discounted" back to normal price since all the cargo ships have now offloaded their stuff at Port of LA and Port of Long Beach.

Our 6 series from 2018 already had the TCon board replaced, and the OS has been reset numerous times because Netflix and Prime crash. Picture is outstanding but the durability isn't there. Also have an older 4 series that's probably 6 years old. That TCon board also went out. Fixed both myself for under $20 each since the nearest service center was 2 hours away and one was out of warranty. My credit card covered the repair parts on one plus labor for me to fix it because of the lack of approved shops. The older 55 has an outstanding picture as well. Probably my last TCLs. Buy with a good CC.
