I think I have owned every model of the HK Onyx Studio line up through the 7. This is probably one of the better designed ones. My favorite was the plasticized mesh front of the 2 or 3 that could be removed and scrubbed with a hard bristle brush to be cleaned easier without damaging any delicate fabrics on most of the others. This model upgraded the feet to no longer use those rubber insert feet that are easy to lose over time but impossible to buy a replacement. The rounded foot design for this model was much better.

Sound-wise, unless you are comparing them side by side, back and forth with music, you should not notice a difference between this and the other models and there's no reason to 'upgrade' from an older model unless you just want to get a great price on another great speaker.

One thing is very consistent though; these are a premium speaker and put out great sound! One of those products that is every bit worth this $100 price tag

While this is a mild deal, this speaker has never been more than $180 on amazon for more than a day in the last 1747 days. It generally sits around $150, not $450 🙄

Great speaker but few things. If you want to maximize the bass..you have to plug it in. The bass speakers are only half power on battery . Also it's Bluetooth 4.2 so will have lag if you stream video.

This is absolutely unbeatable connected to a $20 google home via Bluetooth . And the Bt connection stays active so it's basically a dedicated smart speaker.

Why do these go on sale so often? It makes me wonder if something is wrong with them.

Also, is the 7 worth 50 dollars more than the 4 from T-Mobile? Anyone compare the 2 for sound quality?

Do these work well unplugged and portable? I saw someone say the bass cuts way down if it's not plugged in.

Another confusing thing is the onyx 6 is over twice as expensive as the 7.

Yes power isnt 100% using battery.

Still curious if input lag on the newer ones is tolerable with video.

Reviews are either this is the best speaker ever, or battery and lag make it 1 star

edit: ordered a onyx 7. i guess will find out which reviews were correct lol. hopefully 2 can be paired without bad lag

Okay, so I'm currently using an old Fugoo Tough speaker that is connected to my laptop via 3.5 headphone jack. It lacks the power for obvious reasons but the sound is coming out pretty clear. Is this HK a significant upgrade comparing to my Fugoo?
