I have this laptop. 11400H with 6 cores is a solid performer and doesn't get too hot. It's solid for entry level specs. I've opened it up easily, and upgraded to 16GB Crucial RAM and added an additional Crucial P5 2TB ssd. Only con is the 144Hz IPS screen panels have low sRGB 62.5%, which Asus probably does for cost-saving and gaming. So if you can deal with the ok screen panel, then it's a solid deal. For me, I can adjust the brightness based on the room lighting.

I failed to see how it would be better deal when it have lessor CPU as well as SSD, and not seeing Thunderbolt 4

Upgradable RAM, this seems a pretty decent laptop for wife.. am I overlooking something? Does this thing throttle like whoa under minor loads?

Not really a good deal considering this (https://slickdeals.net/f/15994549-lenovo-ideapad-gaming-3-15-6-fhd-120hz-i5-11300h-rtx-3050-8gb-ddr4...) has been available time and time again in the past.
Definitely sure it's gonna be back on BF if not sooner.

Not sure if a $100 jump is justified for the better processor.

I'm holding out for a 3060 deal. The gap from a 3050 to a 3060 vid card is substantial and worth paying a bit more for imo. I'm really curious to see how low a gaming laptop with a 3060 goes this BF season.

Any idea if the BF ads will be leaked soon? BB had a sale on an i7, 3070 (low wattage version I think) version of this laptop with 16GB of RAM for $1100 a week or so ago and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down to that price again.

I'm not sure when they will be leaked, but I'd imagine that prices will be at that number, if not lower. To my eye it looks like laptops, PCs, and component parts have been dropping steadily in price for a couple of months now. I'm holding out till November.

That's highly dependent on use, though.

A 3050 and 3060 are night and day when plugged in, but it's a narrower gap on battery (whether it be throttling or battery longevity).

But if you're just going to leave your laptop plugged in all the time, why not get a desktop?

I travel. It's sorta hard to bring a desktop along on all my trips. It's much easier to bring a laptop. Not to mention there are outlets everywhere I stay. Smilie

Better processor, double the storage and slightly better refresh rate.

What laptops are you using that "throttle like whoa" under minor loads…? My Alienware M15 R4 (not the best cooling solution) with a 10750 i7 that runs at 100+ watts at full load on all 8 cores will at times throttle due to temps, depending on the fan settings of course (throttles by about 100-200mhz which isn't a big deal really); but otherwise, during "minor" loads ie web browsing, YouTube, etc it never throttles, period… So not sure 🤔 where you're getting this notion? Now if we're talking a 12th gen i5 or i7, that's a different story…

Man I really feel like Thunderbolt4/USB4 at this price point is a game changer.

Spent the last day thinking about selling my 3070 desktop and grabbing this plus a Gigabyte Aorus Waterforce 3080 thunderbolt dock for another $700.

It'd be like a budget Asus ROG Flow X13

If you are going the route of an external video card, why would you buy a "gaming" laptop? Why not buy something thin and light for travel and better battery life on the road for a similar or better price?

You can have the best of both worlds.
