I have this laptop. 11400H with 6 cores is a solid performer and doesn't get too hot. It's solid for entry level specs. I've opened it up easily, and upgraded to 16GB Crucial RAM and added an additional Crucial P5 2TB ssd. Only con is the 144Hz IPS screen panels have low sRGB 62.5%, which Asus probably does for cost-saving and gaming. So if you can deal with the ok screen panel, then it's a solid deal. For me, I can adjust the brightness based on the room lighting.

I failed to see how it would be better deal when it have lessor CPU as well as SSD, and not seeing Thunderbolt 4

I see these gaming laptop deals and assume the graphics card is the main differentiator on these. For instance, this has a 3050 graphics card, while the $1300 ones have a 3070....can someone bottom line for me how much 'better 'a 3070Ti is vs a 3050 or 3060? And what's the AMD ~equivalent of a 3070?

I have this laptop, as per my previous comment. Yes, 3060 would be better of course, but 3050 is adequate for gaming. I would say this price is right where the market is at right now.

As for portability, I would try to catch a 14" Zephyrus on sale for $999 at Best Buy. I would say if you're going to be laptop gaming, expect to stay plugged in also. This is not a good portable laptop. The default battery is only a 3 cell, and with gaming laptops usually the gpu operating is best when laptop is plugged in.

No, it doesn't throttle and works great for me. Yes, this laptop you want to keep plugged in. I use it in bed. 😂

Just make sure to upgrade to at least 16GB RAM.

I was making a point here. What gaming laptops are you referring to which are "cheaper quality" that throttle "like whoa" with minor loads like web browsing…?

All depends on settings, this laptop will play Forza Horizons 5 on high settings at 1080p at 60-70 FPS, a 3060 will do about 110, a 3070 about 140, all depends on TDP of each GPU however, when you crank the settings to ultra the 3050 tanks to like 15-20FPS (due to VRAM bottleneck), while the 3060 pulls approx. 60-70 and the 3070 90-100 (the above numbers I got on a Dell G15 with a 3050Ti 95W, an Acer Nitro with a 3060 95W, and my Alienware M15 R4 with a 3070 140W). If max settings matter you will need more VRAM, so a 3060 or better is a much better choice, if you do light gaming or enjoy older titles then a 3050 should be plenty, of course price is a huge factor here). For me it was a no brainer as to which laptop to keep (I got my Alienware R15 for $700 open box excellent from Best Buy which was an absolute steal considering the Dell G5 was $600 open box and the Acer Nitro was $780 refurbished from EBay).

Yep. The 3050 caps at 4GB VRAM. But that's enough for me to do light 1080p gaming low to medium settings, and get about 60fps at least. DLSS can help also.

But definitely upgrading to 16GB RAM was mandatory for performance.

Yes, 16GB of RAM is a big upgrade in performance in gaming and a must IMO and I agree that the 3050 is plenty for casual gamers.

Would this be a significant upgrade over my HP 5700u laptop considering it has dedicated video graphics and my 5700u does not? Also would I be able to use it with my Oculus 2 to run Steam VR?
