I bought this at my local Walmart on clearance for $3.50 and honestly, I wouldn't buy it for more than that.
The little frisbees are smaller than eggo waffles, and it was an afternoon of novelty toy play, but that was it.

If you are actually interested in disc golf I wouldn't buy this. Better idea is to look on Facebook and see if there is a local club or group for your area and making a post there saying you are looking to start the sport. The community in disc golf is great and you likely will be inundated with offers to play with people and probably get some people who would like to give you some free used discs.

If available in your area play it again sports usually has a selection of used discs as well. Start with putters and midranges only, no need for drivers as a beginner. Check out your local courses, and definitely feel free to ask for advice or even to tag along with a larger group.

Like I said earlier the community of the sport is one of the best aspects about it and we love to show new players a good time.

Why do all the pictures show the kids standing 1' - 2' away from the base? Do these mini-frisbees not fly straight or something?

They have some disc golf baskets all throughout some of the parks here in Georgia. I've never played before. Been a little curious about trying it out though.

Pretty decent starter set on Amazon for like $25-28. Driver, mid range and putter. Its enough to have fun and if you like it upgrade.

Set of frisbees is ~$30-60 depending on number you get, been tracking them on Amazon and I never see a deal

Going to Play It Again sports should net you a couple discs for $10 or less. I'd recommend that for someone looking at getting into it for their first time.

Depending on which side of the state you are in, the courses can vary wildly in quality. If you are in the northern burbs I recommend something easy like Dupree Park (just avoid the water) over something like East Roswell Park, which is physically challenging from a hiking prospective. There is a really nice course in Macon, if you are in the middle of the state. I don't know a lot about the Eastern metro, but people provide decent reviews on the site you referenced above.

While most disc golfers are a pleasant bunch, watch out for the guys who take it too seriously. A fun day of being out side throwing discs can be ruined by a group that is in a huge hurry, best to let them play through if they are hassling you. I don't use social media myself, but my wife is always giving out my number to people on FB and ND looking for DG partners.

Don't worry about getting the "right" discs at first. Just a starter set, or really a putter and driver is fine to start. I've been playing for a few years and don't obsess over the plastics and weight of the discs. Find something comfortable for you, or at least predictable, and adjust your throw.

These discs aren't for playing actual disc golf FYI. This is more of a kids yard game.

If you want a real disc Walmart has them in the sporting goods section for under $10 (Innova DX plastic).

I have this. I bought it for interoffice disc golf. It was great until it ruffled some feathers. I knew it would. 😂

I agree with feedback above. This is basically a novelty/toy. Nothing more. It would be fun to put in the garage or living room while drinking. Don't expect actual disc golf.

We have a lot of empty space waiting for people to return to the office (I am only one to two days myself). It does sound like fun

I highly recommend trying it out, its really fun. But these discs are definitely something different...more of a backyard or office game than something like disc golf.

But as others have mentioned, most sporting goods stores or Play it Again Sports can get you started with real disc golf discs

On a nice day at popular parks you can find someone near the first tee selling them used for decent prices and typically try them out as well as recieve some good advice on them. Perhaps not the case everywhere though as the USDGC are hosted nearby.

Currently the USDGChampionship is happening this week in Winthrop. Check it out if near Charlotte.
