This is really Hot Stuff if you're a true fan. Not many hits in this selection.

I'm not sure why some fairly unremarkable 80s and 90s Donna Summers albums got 180g color vinyl repressings. Are there vinyl-collecting fans of Donna Summers's post-disco work?

Records are very popular right now, and there are a lot of record collectors/record buyers who won't buy used records - they'll only buy new. Anyone could easily go to a used record store, or order from ebay or discogs used versions of these albums for a few bucks, but they simply won't buy used. However, since pressing new color vinyl typically isn't any more expensive than pressing new black vinyl, or the price difference is nominal, place like Walmart (or Target or Amazon) will order their pressings in color since it's more likely going to get a sale from collectors or the casual crowd due to its "flashyness".

Yeah, I totally get all of that. What's weird to me is that Donna Summers has some records that do deserve a fancy repressing, but as far as I can tell these are just random backcatalog records with no hits that you'd probably find in a dollar bin. I'm wondering if these were just made for people who buy records to hang on the wall and never play. I guess the sleeves look cool. And I guess she must have some die hard fans out there.

These are purposely being repressed to be sold at a cheap price, because they're not the the "height of disco", not produced by Giorgio Moroder, didn't receive great reviews, etc. Backcatalogs are made up of individual commodities, and some commodities are worth more than others, cost less to license, etc. It's all in the game...

There are also people who collect versions of the same record, i.e. different color, pressing, country, year, mastering, etc. To them these colored re-issues are valuable.

Believe it or not, a lot of DJs/Remixers hunt these little less known albums down to see if they can add their touches to them.
