How does the at store trade-in work, in terms of setting up and transferring data?
Do you have to do setup and data transfer in store when you pickup the new phone? This can take up to an hour...or can you take the new phone home and drop off the old phone at a later day?

Wondering this as well. I can't hand over stuff immediately as I have authenticators and others to transfer. Does anyone know?

That's weird, maybe because you chose activate now? I chose the Pixel 7, selected activate later $599, then hit the "Pre-Order" button. From there I viewed the cart, changed to local store-pickup, chose my trade-in (Google - Pixel 6 128GB - Stormy Black (T-Mobile) $480, and everything showed up in the cart including the $100 gift card.

Even the Google store doesn't have the 6a listed. Google always seems late to the game.
I'm wondering if they will list the 6a for trade-in at a later time. At which point, what will be the trade-in value? Since it's a fairly new model it should be close to retail? Confused

Or... Should I just pull the trigger on the p7, trade in my iP11 ($490 trade-in value) + 100 GC? Total is $153 with taxes. Minus the GC = $53.

Does anyone know if you can add Google Preferred Care to a phone purchased through Best Buy? While this deal is superior to pre-ordering a Pixel 7 pro via theGoogle Store (Best Buy is offering me $545.00 for my Pixel 6 Pro trade in vs Google Store only offering $475). Google Preferred Care seems to have a better reputation than the "Geek Squad" protection that Best Buy offers.

Verizon also giving massive trade in value (My Pixel5 was worth $700), plus $100 Pixel Buds Pro.

Unfortunately, that $700 is spread over 3 years of credits, which isn't for me.
And you have to be on a 5G unlimited plan, which at the moment costs more than my existing plan as well, so my costs would be going up for two reasons.

Side question for anyone who knows, but does anyone know how the trade in would work with cash back sites or credit card rewards? I'm not sure if the refund from the trade in would count against cash back in either of these forms, though I suspect it very well could. Curious if anyone has any experience, as I'm seeing 4% cash back with one site potentially, and 5% for chase freedom on PayPal, if those two applied for 9% back total, that would be almost the additional cost of the phone for me (aside from the gift card).

Picked one up! Traded in a pixel 4xl for $325 (bought on eBay like a year ago for under $100)

With the trade in the 7 pro came out to $653 and the $200 gift card will come in handy when I upgrade my tv this holiday season.

They're saying if you're considering trading in an S22 Ultra for these phones, NOT to. Yes, the S22 Ultra is the top of the line flagship Samsung phone (next to the Fold, I guess) but I've got it and am not that impressed.I don't care what it says the specs are on paper and my main concern on the phone is probably the camera.

For the S22, the stylus is great if you use it, sure. It's hefty, but alright (this coming from a person who never thought they'd get a phone that big). Screen is great, but not a deal breaker difference for me. But the camera - oof. People go on and on about it and it's got the 100x zoom, but I've had 3 Pixel phones before this and the camera on the S22 (and the same for the Flip 3 and Flip 4, which I also had for a bit) just leaves a lot to be desired. It may be an amazing camera if you want to go through the settings and tweak them for whatever scene or situation you're in but for the average person who wants to just pull out the phone, start the camera, and snap a photo of anything that is not completely still and stationary, it is severely lacking.

All that is to say the only reason I'd hesitate to trade in for one of these Pixels is that the S22 Ultra will likely fetch an insane trade in value for the next Samsung models. That doesn't mean much if you care about the camera though, because it's unlikely to get better than a Pixel in the "simply point and shoot" department. I've already placed a pre-order her for the Pixel 7 Pro (TIV value for the Ultra is too high to purchase the regular P7) with the trade in locked in and was going to mull it over but I'm leaning heavily towards the Pixel right now.
Actually got a S22 Ultra 256GB from Google Fi on Monday that should be about 400 all in out of pocket with 2 months free untld plus service. Was too good to pass up, though my P6P has been quite well behaved esp since A13, almost no reason to go for P7P from a P6P though, it's almost entirely the same phone. And there are twats on various forms 'upgrading' from a S22U to a P7P.

Also keep in mind that P6 series was in open beta for 6 months, the FP sensor, signal strength and battery life were atrocious for the first couple of months (got it in Nov'21), it was actually a downgrade for those early days from my S20+ and I would have returned it had I not traded the S20 in already.

You can pick anything. Best buy doesn't check that stuff out. Just pick whatever.
