According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. - I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

Seems like 1 advantage is the inspection is done right there, so there are no surprises (oops your phone has a cracked screen even though it actually doesn't) courtesy of whatever third party company mail in trade ins use.
Do they give you time to transfer everything over? If you're trading in a phone that you are actually using, they can't possibly expect you to reset everything beforehand and just walk in and hand over the phone?
Planning to buy a refurb with a new number and use it for a trade-in.
it does it once a day to once a week factory reset my phone twice, google it and you'll see some have same issues its a defective phone and Samsung is not taking reasonability!
