Question for those who have done in-store pick up and trade-in of an old phone at Best Buy.

At the store, are you able to transfer your old phone's data to the new phone before handing it in? Or do you need to bring the old phone already factory reset?

My Pixel 6 is my current daily driver so I would need to transfer data to the new phone before wiping it.

They do the transfer.

My store wouldn't let me do setup and transfer later, it had to be on the spot to trade it in.

Question for in store trade in. People are mentioning them taking down the trade in phone IMEI, but also saying to wipe the phone in advance. I have a backup pixel 6 that is wiped currently, but how can the worker at the store get the IMEI? I don't see it anywhere on the body, and the phone would need to at least be set up with a Google account to go to settings to see the IMEI, right? Just trying to make sure I know the best plan so I can avoid any slowdowns or delays this evening at the store.

Thanks, I guess I'll do a cloud backup of the Pixel 6 and temporarily transfer my authenticator apps to another phone.

My Pixel 6 is my current daily driver so I would need to transfer data to the new phone before wiping it.

Rep activated my new phone and I opened the box and use cable to transfer from old phone. Most reps are nice and they will allow you to transfer data. Once finished I factory reset the phone and gave it to them. All took about 30 minutes.

On the screen it was not showing my correct refund amount but I did not bother, I checked my paypal account this morning and found I was charged 653.81 on my order data and I see refund amount of 523.79 and I see email for $100 eGC so net out 29.89 - excellent deal on very high end phone.

Thanks OP.

Just took 10mins to trade in off my old T-Mobile Pixel Pro 6 still has EIP left and get the new Pixel 7 Pro.

Already had my Pixel 6 Pro factory reset (erased eSim thats used for data only). I maintain a spare pixel 4a that holds all auth keys and have a 100gb Google One subscription that let me restore the data as is to new phone. Also, Aegis Authenticator let you save the Auth keys into Google One backup or export. Google Auth has you scan the export barcode.

Used paypal for Chase 5% and got the refund email and 200gc immediately.

So I ordered my phone and picked it up at Best buy. I used my discover card directly on Best buy's website. So it should probably be a couple of days before I see the credit on the card? First time doing this so I'm not really sure of what the process was for the phone. I know it said my order total was $128 and some change on the website and on the printout they gave me.

If your pixel was already factory reset, how did they get the IMEI? Did you just have the info saved somewhere?

I have a Google Fi account I use when traveling. It was last enabled a few months ago. I usually keep it paused but turned it on to move the eSim. I guess by doing that I qualified for the free unlimited account promo. Funny thing is I'm not a new customer and my account isn't unlimited.

Anyone else get this promo?

After the factory reset, went ahead with setup with SKIP for wifi, google acct and other details. So, it gets into Menu upon reboot and can access Settings. i always do that with my Trade in Devices.

Thank you, this is my first trade in, in a store. I'll get it set that way so it's as painless as possible in store

I noticed the same tbh and was surprised. Also got a message saying phone is too hot already. Hopefully both can be fixed with software update down the road.
Where are too hearing this? Everywhere I look I am seeing incredibly positive reviews of the camera specifically.
