- NJ: When I did an in-store pickup of an online-order, tax was automatically calculated on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal). But when I did an in-store purchasing today, tax was calculated on (price - TIV_promo). According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. Don't know if this is all true to CA or other states.

- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

On T-Mobile I know I can pay mine off and still get the rest of the trade-in credits. Just don't really want to pay $700 to do so since I have 21 months left. Not sure if AT&T works the same.

Something to note, if you used a gift card + credit card/debit card, your refund will go to the highest payment method.
In-store trade-in separated portions into two different trade-ins. One is from Google's trade-in promotion and the other is the Best Buy trade-in value.

Now, one big caveat. Just because you can initiate an trade-in online with your broken phone does not mean you can actually trade-in a broken phone in-store. You are dealing with people, and BB agents normally don't accept broken phones because they are worth nothing to BB. You may have a great experience and get someone who willing to accept your broken trade-in, or you may get rejected outright without checking. No matter what, be kind, you are dealing with people after all. If you get rejected, you can always cancel and get your money back.
