- NJ: When I did an in-store pickup of an online-order, tax was automatically calculated on (price - TIV_promo - TIV_normal). But when I did an in-store purchasing today, tax was calculated on (price - TIV_promo). According to the representative, this is because TIV_normal is processes as a GC and it has to be applied after the checkout, so the tax is charged on that part. Don't know if this is all true to CA or other states.

- I've done in-store trade-ins a few times at Best Buy. They only do a cursory look at the phone, to make sure it matches the color and condition. They don't care if it is carrier locked or is still being financed. -RonaldM

1. Go to the "Order Details" page for your order on bestbuy.com. This page likely says "Shipping Kit on its way" for the trade in status.
2. Open Developer Console in Chrome. Navigate to the "Networks" tab and reload the page.
3. Search for "trade" in the search box.
4. You should see 3 results - the third begins with "2002..." for me. Click on this one.
5. Click on "tradeInStatusInfo" -> "fulfillment" -> "tracking".
You will see the tracking number of the return shipping UPS label. You should also see a "isBoxShipped" field that likely reflects if your trade-in kit has shipped yet.

I did my first trade-in last week at the same store with my pixel 4a and it was done by a different employee who pretty much struggled to do it and wasted my time but he eventually figured it out. Turned out he was one of the store managers..lol. These in-store trade-ins are still better than the mail-ins but apparently YMMV depending on the employee you get.
Traded iphone 11 from ST today which I was little worried but also knew should go well based on feedback here. The lady checked few menu items in the iphone besides IMEI but other than that it was smooth trade-in.
I don't know if BB has has done this insane trade-in promo in the past but this one was awesome and hope they will do it again next year!
