Thanks! I've thought about upgrading my TV for a few years but haven't because I always have something else that I need to spend the money on. I think I can handle a hundred bucks!

Is this been verified for $112 or just on assumption of 80% off based on the assumed retail price of $560?

The source is a tech blog

Yes but why would they discount the 50" BY $110 and then discount the 55" almost $400 and it coincidentally = $110 total? Amazon wants to entice you to get a smart tv so they get your data, they don't care if you get a 55" over a 50", certainly not an extra $300 worth and not enough to make the 55" cheaper than the 50". The only source here is a tech blog. It's an obvious misunderstanding or possibly intentional by the tech blog to drive traffic. There will be no $110 55" smart TVs on the 11th guys.
Lmao you act like a 55" for $110 is impossible. I've seen tv's clearanced for VERY close to that price for a 55" especially when it's a budget TV.

It's not impossible, it's just not logical that they'd make it significantly cheaper than the 50" model from the same line on the same day. I know you want it to be true but come on dude.

I've seen prices from early access change to a cheaper price once the day the sale actually starts, I also worked for marketing and also as a logistics coordinator for Amazon through Ashton Carter. If one product has a major overstock regardless of having another item in the same series/line companies will heavily discount the one vs the other just to liquidate their supply of the overstocked item. And 50" are more sought after compared to 55" tv's as well, Not saying I want it to be true but it could easily be especially coming from amazons wonky ass. This is also Amazon's official blog

I have never been more embarrassed to be an SD member as I am today. This post unverified has been left running for over 20 hours?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank ImaPuppy

I've seen "it's from a tech blog" so many times and it simply isn't true. About Amazon is Amazon's official blog. This isn't some third party. It's literally the company telling you what the deal is.

As for whether this price has been verified. No, it hasn't at least not when I made my original post. Which is why I asked if anyone could verify it but the deal editors did their editing and haven't squashed it so I assume they know. SD works closely with retailers and would have the scoop on this.

Anyway sorry so many of you are upset by this thread.

Good practice to remove all streaming hardware connected to the home network while not using them.

It forever gathers your info? Uhhh, yeah. So does apple and roku. Lol.

Are you one of these "I would never get an Amazon echo because it listens to everything we say" types?

Because newsflash, your apple iPhone, any android phone, tablets, websites, all kinds of things collect data on you. Guess what, amazon trying to offer you better product choices isn't exactly some kind of privacy concern for most people.

If you want to worry and wear an aluminum foil hat, wouldn't government spying be more concerning?
I need to upgrade my tin-foil hat...
