This looks like an incredible deal and I'm extremely tempted. I have a Legion Y740 from a few years ago and it's held up very well with a 2070 max-q, wondering if I should hold off. Maybe for BF or after.
I would wait for BF, I bit just because I need it by early Nov.

The deal has been available for far less here for quite some time now.

Really depends on what you prioritize in a laptop, and what you'll be using it for. I'll probably have the unpopular opinion here, but I'd personally go with neither, and get the $1399 eBay Legion 5 Pro with the 6800H and 3070ti.

Yes, AMD Advantage is great, and the 6850M XT should be an excellent performer, but:

* 6850M XT does not support DLSS

* I personally do not care for the Alienware bling

* 4K panel on a laptop, even with a powerful GPU like the 6850M XT, is not great for gaming in my opinion. You have to either game at 4K with bad performance, or run your games at a lower resolution, which can look weird. 2560x1600 with a 16:10 aspect ratio, paired with a fairly powerful GPU like a 150W 3070ti is a sweet spot.

* m17 has a 17 inch panel, but it's a 16:9 aspect ratio compared to the Legion 5 Pro's 16:10.

* Build quality and design on the Legion 5 Pro will be better in my personal opinion. I recently returned an M15 R7, and the Legion 5 Pro is better in this area. Excellent cooling design and layout with the internals.

* Are you paying extra for a 32GB RAM bump you don't need? If you're gaming, multitasking, coding, 16GB of fast DDR5 should be enough. Not saying you don't need 32GB, just throwing that out there.

* Legion 5 Pro is not exactly thin and light, but it probably looks like an Ultrabook compared to the m17.

Again, these are mostly personal opinions. $2000 was a good price for the Alienware, but you're not getting night and day performance compared to the Legion 5 Pro.

At $1399, you could throw another roughly $200 into the Legion and get a 2TB SK Hynix P41 NVME drive. That would bring you up to 3TB of super fast storage, and you would still have $400 left over for a Switch OLED + game.

As much as I love my legion 5 pro w/ ryzen 7 & 3070 I got from the last Walmart clearance deal, I'd sit back a bit more on this one. Black Friday coming, influx of gaming PCs coming.

I left this in my cart for a bit which triggered an email offering me up "up to $100 off" and got an extra $50 for a total of $860 off.
Honestly thought "no way will they let this stack". Was wrong!

I would not buy this. My Lenovo legion 7 3070 randomly restarts.
I'm guessing it is overheating. Next time it happens, check to see if the laptop is really warm

thank you for posting this link with all of the details. For some reason people don't post dimensions and weight with laptop listings

I wouldn't. The Alienware specs are better, plus AMD CPU + AMD GPU are a major plus.
But I found a youtube video comparing these two and according to it, the Legion has better thermals and slightly better build quality too I guess. Not sure which will last longer.

Good call outs on the 10% cb and 5% cb from Chase via PayPal. Return window is only thirty days though. Guess BF deals are normally announced a ways in advance so we might know the price in time to return.
