Yeah, the title is misleading. If it were truly 40w this would be a steal.
"Laser Power: 40W
Laser Output Power: 4.5-5.5W"
Diode laser of this strength would be best suited for wood, paper, maybe leather. I don't see much success with stainless steel unless you've got a fiber/mopa laser. I know some people that have had success with acrylic and glass via their diode laser by pretreating with certain inks, etc

Yeah, this is confusing. Everyone calls the 5W optical power of the diodes 20W electrical power and 10W optical 40W electrical, and they call the 5W a 40W.

Well, then, you're in luck because they have the 20W laser output model on similar sale at about 47% off and under $1000USD

how are you happy with it even though you haven't used it? lol
I have it for 5 months it's does a great job for the price. I've cut 3mm Baltic birch plywood with no issues. Engraved very nicely! You can search on IG Atomstack A5 Pro. But yeah it's only a 5w output laser so anything above 4-5mm it will be tough to cut depending on the wood type. GL! Edit, I'm already looking to upgrade to 10w output just for sheer time savings and more option to cut.
Any use of a laser without an enclosure is both irresponsible and dangerous. Looks up the Youtube safety reviews on open frame lasers like this. Good luck burning down the house or blinding everyone from the reflections of the invisible laser light you can't see.
