Nowhere does that say you have to stay on and pay 6 more months at regular price which is what your post is insinuating. If you want to port out after 6 months, or 3,or 1, you can.

get a couple of questions
- not seeing port-in option. Is it available at activation?
- should I select 1 month and auto renew at checkout?

Thanks!

No love? looks like a good deal since its good for 6 months. hopefully its easy to port in and out of lyca...
Porting out from Lyca Mobile takes patience. First, it takes a long time to speak with a representative, and if you are lucky enough they will put you on hold for 30 minutes and hang up after that. To port out you need account number which is not on your monthly bill.

It's absolutely not true and this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

I mean think about it, it's a prepaid line, how would they even enforce such a thing when you can literally just cancel at any time (hence the auto-renew feature)?

Makes 0 sense what that guy is saying.

Well at least their website doesn't act like it's running on an Apple II.

I need wifi calling. I chatted with them and was told wifi calling is only enabled on specific phones, my Pixel 6A not being one of them.

If you don't need data, check out TextNow (free). If you do, I liked Tello. TracPhone works well for my light use.

This is exceptionally slick for people traveling needing a basic data connection. Anyway, I signed up. Just use a virtual card that will decline payments past the 6 month period and voila, you're good to go.

Edit: Maybe I misunderstood the "international" part and it doesn't include 2gb of data overseas.

$5/mo for 2gb is a good deal for sure.

But does it have international roaming / data included to these 75 countries? Seems too good to be true.. maybe I am reading this wrong.

This deal is super confusing. Where does it say that this is for international travel? The plan just says it includes calls to international locations.

Yeah i don't think it does, it's just worded in a somewhat confusing way.

I think the data is domestic only
Calling is international outbound but likely doesn't pick up signal when traveling to those countries it listed.

Still a good deal for 2gb of 4g/5g for $5/mo. Not sure there's a better deal out there right now as a backup data plan.
