Since one's criteria of fake differs, I took two quick videos so you and anyone else interested can see the lights in effect.
First video- which I realized made the lights look much brighter and dynamic than they really are thanks to default nightmode in phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDxEFGQ2aHI
Second video taken with nightmode off, showing a more accurate illumination of lights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctmVp9lXdrU

I had a set of solar lights that were marketed as waterproof.. they were not. Water got into the housing, sat, and just rusted out the battery and contacts all along the LED light strip.
How did they end up looking? Was the flame effect decent? I've seen some of these before that look so fake.
I would say decent. I have seen better and I have seen worse.
But I am happy with my purchase, perfect for my use as halloween path lights.
I put them out about 3:30 the first day- so not a lot of sun charging before dark (in the mid-west). Has to get faily dark for sensor to trigger them on, but they lasted 'til the morning. Website stated up to 8 hours, but that was closer to 12.
Guessing that is in part to batteries being packaged charged. Will have to see how they hold up over time with fall sunlight.

Thank you. How close would you say that you'd have to get to them before they start looking fake?

You're the man. They actually look pretty decent for the price. I like that they have variation in the simulated flame pattern, and they don't just go up and down symmetrically. Thank you for doing that. 👍
