Excellent fan, but this seems to be the newer model where they removed the ability to connect with extension cord the old model had if that matters to you
Yep. Depending on your needs, this model may or may not have some trade offs. This one is rated for 650cfm but has no outlet to plug in 120vac power. The DCE511B has the outlet, but is also only rated for 500cfm.

I have a 511 and just purchased this 512. For my needs, it'll be fine.
If you can show us a metal, battery powered fan, with this type of output for $70 please share, as I would be interested. We will be waiting for your deal.

Why not, if that's your only fan.

I purchased the RYOBI for $59, not sure of the difference? Also have a dewalt to Ryobi battery converter, works great. Also the Ryobi can use a plug
Size (8 vs 7.5), output(CFM), and quality. If you have the choice go with the DeWalt.

$70 on sale for a plastic fan?
This is where you want the Ryobi stuff because Dewalt robs people off with these secondary things

This. I was able to grab older model on sale when they were going out of stock sale. I would still get this one if battery doesn't matter. Quiet and useful fan for workshop!

Picked up one for $69 plus tax. It will be good for camping in the summer with a couple of batteries.

Thanks for posting. Been waiting on this to go back down to get a second one. When I ordered mine, it said it was the last one in stock but "more are on the way" so good luck to anyone else wanting one. Good price.
LOL it said the same thing for me just now so hopefully they actually have stock to fulfill the demand.

Be careful with these adapters. They don't provide any protection for the battery.
Yep people don't realize these cheap adapters kill batteries since they just connect to the +- terminals without any low voltage protection.

Price has been reduced to $66.11 as of 4:11 CDT. This is also the all time low per C^3( camel camel camel)

Apparently this is the newer version that's stronger but doesn't have the AC plug https://static.slickdealscdn.com/ima...lies/frown.gif
wow, that is crazy, had not realized that they removed the AC plug!? Thank you for the heads up, cancelled the order, even though it is down to around $66, the loss of the AC plug is a bit of a dealbreaker. And I have two of the fans mounted with the tripod screw and sounds like that is gone too? Odd design decision for what used to be a great fan with the 511.

I actually have both the previous version of this dewalt fan and the Ryobi. The Ryobi is noticeably cheaper feeling, I.E. type of plastic, weight, and just general overall design and build quality. The Ryobi also doesn't feature a variable speed selector like the Dewalt does, it only has a high speed/low speed switch. The Ryobi also doesn't seem to be able to hold its rotated position when in high speed, it slowly drifts down. The Dewalt features some sort of ratcheting lock, so when you rotate it up and down you hear clicks and that seems to hold its position with no issues.

I only paid $25 for the Ryobi through Direct tool outlet, so It's fine for a $25 fan but I much prefer my Dewalt even at double the price (I paid $50 for the Dewalt).

Edit: apparently Ryobi has updated their fan as well, My reference is to the older P3320 version. I have no experience with the newer Ryobi.

Regarding the lass of the AC port: there's gotta be battery slot to DC barrel jack adapters no? Then you could just use a wallwart power supply of some sort.

I use this for camping (and in random other ways). Definitely handy, moves air pretty well and tough as nails.
