This is like $45 a pound? Why not get a few pounds of decent steak?

Exactly. Buy cheap cuts, cut into cubes and freeze. Excellent treats. Or make jerky for trips or training. $45/lb is nuts for dog treats. That freeze dried nugget is gone in 2 seconds

Edit: my pupper loves frozen raw chicken feet, great supplement. FD protein is great for prepper doomsday scenario when shit hits the fan and zombie apocalypse is upon us.

Small freeze dried treats like this work well for my older chihuahua that doesn't have a lot of teeth left.

Likely because it's freeze dried. USDA says beef is aprx 75% water, freeze drying removes aprx 95% of water.

So 3oz freeze dried = ~12oz raw or aprx $11.20 a pound.

If handled correctly freeze dried stores much, much longer than raw or even frozen. It's also lightweight.

Why don't they make these for people? Why we only have boring tough muscle meets for jerky? traditional peoples all over the world ate these for nutrition and taste

Sodium content in hot dogs is terribly high - not good for humans and surely not good at all for a tiny senior dog.

If the beef was grass fed I'm certain the manufacturer would have included that detail on the package. Instead they only emphasize that the beef hearts have no antibiotics or added hormones.
