I'm a pretty big fan of TCL, but I've had bad luck with their 4-series TVs. The first one lasted about 18 months of moderate usage before the power supply failed. The repair wasn't too difficult or expensive, but it wasn't long afterward that the backlight also failed.

The second one developed an issue with the built-in speakers, again not too long after the warranty expired. I bypassed this issue by picking up a soundbar which I should have done sooner anyway.

Meanwhile, my kids are using and abusing a Samsung TV I picked up 12 years ago that refuses to die.

Definitely not trying to steer anyone from this deal. I'm just saying to temper your expectations, or perhaps consider picking up the extended warranty for peace of mind.

For what it's worth, I also have a TCL 6-series (2018 version) that has worked flawlessly from day 1.

Had 2 top of the line Samsung died on me around the 2 years mark. What im trying to say is, doesnt matter the brand, just buy a TV you like or can afford and worry about the defect when it happens. I have 2 Sonys, 1 LG and 1 TCL still rocking, knock on wood.

Yeah, I'm definitely not advocating for Samsung TVs, just that I have one that refuses to die at this point. I much prefer the TCLs. I just wish I had better luck with the 4-series as I have recommended them to a lot of people but have personally experienced issues with them.

Is this really a solid deal ? I've been keeping an eye on TV deals and even though this is a 75", seems like a real frontpage deal would be under $400?

Do a search for 75 inch TV's on slickdeals. You'll find that there aren't too many deals for less then $600. This is a solid deal.

Doesnt work that way with larger TVs, yes, if an 65 is $250 you would think 75 should be $400, but the bigger it is, the slower the price will fall. Im still waiting on my 98 inch tv to be $3000. But its in the 10k plus range.

Wouldn't say solid deal because the tv isn't rated too highly. Microcenter sells a 75 inch LG that Consumer Reports rated way higher for $650.

I've had decent luck with TCL. I have a 75 and 43 and the only issue I have is the 43 drops wifi occasionally. Both are Several years old. I've had the most issues with Vizio where every single one I had (3 of them) didn't last a year or were defective right out of the box. Lg and Samsung have given me no issues and Sony gave me software bugs in their tv.

Good deal, but the series 4 is def an intro level for 4k tvs. The 5 and 6 series have much better picture and contrast. I have a 65 6 series and I love it, when I watch my 55 4 series I can easily notice a diff. But $500 for 75...good grab!

Still using my Sony 40" XBR 1080p from 2005. I can't find a tv with clearer text to use as a computer monitor than this and it's been 17 years.
