And lol, what are you talking about financial apps? Yeah my Fidelity app doesn't work on my iPad 3, oh no.
I'd imagine the M1 Pro would have a long life span.
Rumored updates are the M2 chip, which seems to run warmer based on the new Macbook Air and there are worries of thermal throttling. I wouldn't think normal use of an iPad from the average user would trigger this. The M2 probably isn't going to be a huge increase in performance over the M1 for the average user
Other rumors include magsafe charging? I don't personally need
Removing the USB-C port in favor of the above mentioned rumored magsafe charging? I don't think they would do this, but who knows!
Moving the front facing camera to the long edge? I don't personally care

Probably some screen improvements? The current 2021 model is more than good enough for me (many want/speculate the mini-LED tech coming to the next 11 inch pro but who knows, probably not?)
Again, all just rumors/things people want Apple to do, none of which are confirmed, only speculated/wished for. It seems that they will not hold an event to do an extravagant announcement of this year's model so far, so the updates could be incremental/minimal.
Potentially a price increase as well. All this justified this purchase, especially at this discount for me. Also, I'm still chugging along with an Air 2 which came out in late 2013 and while it still works, it's very sloooooow now!
