I would never buy a Goodyear over a Michelin, ever. If you can afford Michelins, get them.

My local tire shop does really cheap installation when you buy tires direct from them. I always call them up and ask them to get close to the online price and they usually beat it. Plus they still give the discounted mount and balance since they sold the tire. It's worth calling your locally owned place and seeing what they can do.

Did you do this in-store? They have made it very clear to me after a recent transaction with them that they will not pricematch AND honor the instant manufacturer rebates. I think the mail-in rebates might be OK with pricematching though (maybe this is what you got)

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac (the price is 1000 - 200 - 100 rebate) /4 = 175 per tire

VS

Michelin - Agilis CrossClimate (the price is 1175 - 200)/5 = 195 per tire

which one is better choice?

BTW: did you call or go into your local store for this? Or did you do it online?

EDIT: I just called the 800 number for Discount Tire and the rep I spoke with said he could not match the coupon AND the online instant rebate due to system constraints or whatever. He then suggested I just order the tires via Ebay LOL....

I asked him if the mail-in rebates would work with an Ebay order and for that he did confirm that it should. So I'm guessing you're referring to the mail-in rebates?

EDIT #2: I also tried calling a local America's Tire and the guy kept saying I needed to bring a printout showing the promotional discount and it would have to be for discounttiredirect.com. I tried to explain to him that DiscountTireDirect is on Ebay but he seemed confused about it - I think there *might* be a chance of scoring the coupon match at a store but I'm doubtful that they'd match the instant online savings piece as well.

Also, Chase 5% CB for Paypal purchases is nice... I'm really tempted to get a set of the CrossClimate2s. We're in need of new tires on our Rav4 soon so probably should just do it sooner than later. I'm wondering if I can set my address to be my local America's Tire shop and have them shipped there under my name, or if that's too risky.

Looking to get Michelin and they are $110 instant saving on discount tire site. https://www.discounttiredirect.co...elin-tires

Did you get this or similar promotion matched?

I tried calling both the 800 number and a local store regarding this exact thing. Both told me it's one or the other in terms of them accepting a pricematch or the instant online savings.

I don't think DTD/AT will let you "double-dip" on price/coupon-matching + instant online savings or rebates. I do believe you can pricematch though and still get the rebate. YMMV of course, as I think it really depends on the person and or manager you are speaking with. There's probably a better chance of them allowing the price/coupon-match AND stacking any other rebates on top of that in store. It might be worth it to some, but running around to different AT physical stores and trying to negotiate and haggle the sales reps/managers into letting me stack these promos is pretty time-consuming.

I think the best you could do then is just order off Ebay and have them ship to a local tire place. The installation should be around $100 give or take. Not too bad of a deal. I'm on the fence with the CrossClimate2s. I'm just trying to see if there's other stuff I can do to get more $$$ off - tires are expensive especially with inflation!

Costco has 140 off and turns out to be very similar for cross climate 2 -225 70-17 (831 will tax and install) with the added advantage of tire rotations.

Other options I am evaluating is good year assurance weather ready. They have a mail in rebate.

Yea, Americas Tire does free rotations/balances as well. The $140 off at Costco isn't too bad - is that also an instant savings? Or is any of that a mail in rebate? If I were to do the Discount Tire Deal via Ebay, my size tires would be $666.34 after tax and discount. Supposedly, it would cost $88~ to install them at Americas Tire (well, add on probably another $10-15 for all the disposal fees and what not) so I'd probably be looking at $760-770ish. Minus another 5% should bring it down $30 or so.
