R stands for receptacle, which means you plug something into it. A regular wall outlet.
I have this machine for almost 10 years (older version and this version) and walks flawlessly. Actual installation takes about 10 minutes (finding wall studs, drilling, and linking to your phone). After you install it to your wall just plug the machine into your NEMA plug and never mess with that plug again. Go charge your car afterwards.
I've had this installed in my garage since January, and it's been flawless.

The app is minimal, but functional. It's got timers, start/stop, energy used, schedules, etc.
All the basic stuff is there, and I can't think of any "nice to haves" that are missing.

Price is the lowest I've seen so far. I paid $549.99 in January and considered that to be a solid deal after CB, energy tax credit, etc.

Installation by an electrician in my area was much more reasonable than I expected. $270 for a basic 50A circuit on the existing panel.

I had charged overnight on L1 120V for a year and a half with no issues, but for $800 installed it's well-worth it to top off a charge anytime at 8x the L1 speed.
No. The new tax credit is only for purchases and installs starting Jan 1 2023. It is not retroactive.

This is a nice additional discount off what was already a screaming deal at CostCo (lower price than Amazon, etc.). Have been in the market, bought this in a second!

Thank you posting this. I just got this installed by electrician last night. I wish this had a longer cable and better app, otherwise the item is well built and sturdy.

Great deal OP. I paid $600 on Amazon in August and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a level 2 charger. While the app is a bit bland, it does provide metrics and control over when to start/stop charging to take advantage of your TOU electricity costs. The cord is thick and stiff, but it's somewhat expected for a 30A charger IMO.

I think the new Fed rebates will take another 30% come tax season (plus any state rebates).

Yeah I think it technically starts Dec 31, 2022 or something dumb. They should've made it since start of 2022

The 30% tax rebate has been in effect for a number of years, iirc there are no new federal incentives for chargers in the 2022 bill. I had a charger installed last year and claimed it on this year's filing (30% the cost of the charger and labor is refunded).

I recently had a NEMA outlet installed when I added solar to my house. All I have to do is mount it and plug this in right?

My Tesla came with an adaptor to plug into NEMA 14-50 outlet. So will using JuiceBox make any difference in charging speed? It should be very similar, right?

The Tesla mobile connector tops out at 32amps, I have an older juicebox and it pulls 40 amps so it is a bit faster. The Tesla high power wall connectors can go up to 48 (maybe even 60) amps depending on your model.
