These can be so much more convenient than a bubble level and have a cool factor! I hung wall cabinets in my garage across 3 walls and was able to find a spot on a shelf to place the laser level so that level line spanned 30' of wall, marking the height for the mounting bracket pilot holes. No need to keep checking w/ a bubble level, no line drawings or markings needed - just held the bracket so that the laser split the mounting holes in half and used a pick to mark the pilot holes. Rotated the laser-level in place to get the other walls and all cabinets were perfectly level at the exact same height.

So marking the walls with laser light instead of pencils or painters tape is so easy for hanging anything. And you can stand back for a better perspective and adjust positioning as needed without getting on a ladder. Can also check the level of existing things from a distance, especially across long spans of walls without moving a ladder around.

I've since purchased a cheap tripod for mine. At least this one has a clamp mount included. Once you try one, you'll understand how convenient they are.

Ok - but for those of us that are tired of junk on eBay, it's a good price from a seller you can return easily to.

I have this laser level - it's not bad. It can be a little fiddly to get those minor height adjustments etc, and you have to have the unit itself relatively level for it to work. However, for occasional use, the price is great.

I'm an avid DIYer, have done all kinds of projects around the house, always used a bubble level. Can someone convince me to get this? I'm not in a rush. Is this a solid deal?

Have one. It's decent enough. Just beware though that a tripod or something is required if trying to level some that is high up on the wall. It uses a gravity/plumbob style of leveling, i.e. its a laser that's hanging inside the case.

This implies that if you wanted to level something at a specific angle (30deg, 45deg, etc.), you'll need to find the angle and prop the laser at that angle.

Also, if the laser isn't "perfectly level" it will slow blink, telling you it isn't level.

Thanks, you've convinced me. Now the question is do I bite now or wait for BF?

Great price. But realistically, you'll only be able to use this indoor in single small rooms with low lighting.

The green one is much better (of course more money). But you can use the green outdoors, in large rooms, across large distances, and in bright lighting. The red one you won't be able to see.

But I do recommend getting a quality Bosch unit, instead of no-name knock offs. The Bosch's hold their resale value, and you can always sell it used on ebay or at a pawn shop if you don't want it anymore. Whereas the no-name knock offs are worthless when used.

All of this. I got this one a while back for a similar price and couldn't be happier. It's one of those tools that seems unnecessary until you have one and then it's indispensable.
