So what happens if you try and watch something in Dolby Vision on one of these? The movie or program just doesn't play?? Any chance the next gen of this TV will include DV or is Samsung hellbent against it for the rest of time? That along with no DTS pass thru kill this TV for me even though I'm wanting to get away from Sony.

Also, can ABL be turned off on this TV via the service menu? Sony prevents it and the TV is too dark as a result.
Will just play in hdr10+. I've never had an issue or noticed it with any of my Samsung TV's

Wow...talk about someone who shouldn't post here! Are you having a bad day? Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Dog just die?

My post was simply a series of innocuous questions which--when answered--would actually serve to *reduce* my ignorance! Amazing how questions have that ability!

Thank you to scarru who actually replied with good, useful information that enlightened me on at least one of the questions I had. And a big NO THANK YOU to you! I see your response to Xephyroth was equally ugly. I think it's bedtime for you.

It just plays in HDR. Not having Dolby Vision was a concern for me too, but from what I've heard people say, the S95B looks better using HDR than other TV's with Dolby Vision, so it's not as missed. It still would be nice if it had DV support though. I'm going to compare to my A80J in DV vs the S95B in HDR for some streaming shows and see what the difference looks like.
Yeah from a video I saw you can disable ABL in the service menu, but it could affect warranty and maybe reliability.

You should try the LG G1, or G2 if money isn't an issue, if you don't want this or a Sony. I have it and like it. It's plenty bright and comes with a 5 year warranty plus I like that the remote controls almost anything plugged into it's HDMI ports.

Damn. Wish I could trade my Sony OLED for this one. The Sony has been nothing but a constant headache since day one. Anyone know if this Samsung has forced auto-dimming in game mode? I can't STAND that on the Sony.
Which Sony?

I'm really torn since the EPP deals on the s95b are great, but they are still first gen televisions. Samsung isn't really known for the long term QC (see unrelated recent YT videos on expanding batteries).
The batteries issue is an outlier that shouldn't be given much thought since Samsung supplies batteries to its competitors as well and those haven't been having the same issues. It may not be enough data for a real sample size but it would be in line with Samsungs product divisions inconsistency with quality control. A better example here would be this TV has been known to bend.. pretty easily.. and still no Dolby Vision even though they pay for Atmos. Idk why the execs over there picked that to be the hill to die on but they aren't budging, even though more and more content is getting released in Dolby Vision.

I'm surprised you hate it. I loved mine before Sony had to swap it out. It developed big dark circles across the screen so Sony offered to swap it out. The A8H was out of stock so now I have the A80J. I don't like it as much. I wish it had a glossy panel, but it has a semi matte finish. I briefly gamed on the A8H (Ghost of Tsushima, Mafia), and I didn't notice any dimming. What games do you typically play on your A8H?

I'm still considering the 65" (really want a 77") but I think the best route to go is to buy it from Costco for a 5 year warranty or even better use the Costco visa for a 7 year warranty total on this. Last I looked the 65" was going for $1999 so if that dropped price again I'd be torn not to pull the trigger on it.

I have this model, 65 in, been using it for about 1 month. No issues and updated to the latest firmware. Yes you can tell the difference in brightness has been reduced. The TV I replaced this with was the LG c1 65 in. The Samsung is definitely more vivid. The software is buggy, but I use apple tv. If you can get a good one, this TV is amazing in colors and brightness for an OLED. I picked up the extra warranty just in case.

Thought about buying one of these, but went with the more established LG and got a C2.
