Better plan is to make your home less of a target. Invest in cameras (they will generally move to the next house without cameras), lighting, and proper landscape.
I think this one is more or less for kids not opening door. But secondarily helps weak kicks.
Somewhere I saw the recommendation to install this right above or below your deadbolt. However, at that height, a kid can easily lock you out if you step out to get something.

Lock your doors and windows (don't leave windows open at night). Its like the concept of The Club for your car. It can be defeated in a minute. But the thief will probably just go to the next car.

Speaking of insurance, the more we secured our building, the lower our rates went so many of the improvements quickly paid for themselves. Not sure how much that would affect residential, but is something you might want to talk to your agent about.
