It was loosely based on the Andy Griffith episode where Barney and Gomer go into the "haunted" house to retrieve Opie's baseball.

You can actually see Andy's garage next to the haunted house in one scene.

Also Barney wears the same suit in the movie he wore on the TV show.

My parents took us to the drive in to see this when I was 5. I was terrified LMAO The fact that other SDers know this movie gives me hope that I'm not the oldest person on Slick Deals.
