Good for ~$260 price point (after all discounts)

Cons per my view:
- TN panel screen
- No backlit keyboard as per details on the Specifications page

Given the current state of PC sales, I hope better deals will be available around thanksgiving.
How do you get it to $260? Lowest I can get it to is $270 after the extra 10% off for electronics.

This looks great deal to me. One thing I don't understand is why inflation isn't impacting this product category.

Is the TN screen really that bad? I've got an Asus Zenbook with 8 GB ram (not upgradeable), IPS screen and a dedicated NVIDIA MX450. The empty slot for additional RAM is tempting to return the ASUS (plus about a $70 in savings).
Probably not.
A little dim and about viewing angles not as great but overall not much different from low end IPS screens, color range about the same. While IPS is probably better generally speaking if you're indoors doing productivity type work, won't matter much. Media consumption will matter a little, images just won't appear quite as vivid. Outdoors is gonna be tough unless you're entirely out of sun.

Fwiw, would def choose this over 14" HP that is very popular

Bought one for my 6th grade daughter for her birthday. She wants a laptop to play Roblox on- hopefully this will be a good option. Paid $256 after coupon and red card- no tax in OR.
I'm going do the same for my kids too. Get this so they can play Roblox.

for doc work purpose:
at most one hour per day
mostly ms office and website (not video)

Would this be enough for 3~4 years?
Fast enough but crappy screen. If you don't mind looking at a crappy screen it will be fine. There are other computers in this price range that are maybe a touch slower than the CPU but don't have as crappy a screen

At least it's FHD. Have you seen it in person? Doubt it's crappy probably on the dim, washed out side, but so are the low end IPS screens...

You are correct there is some chance that it is a non crappy TN 220 nit display. But I would consider that to be a low chance since even 250 nit IPS displays are somewhat low brightness

How hard is it to upgrade RAM? I did it before in an old laptop and it was so easy.Just a slot on bottom of case. Then I did another one and had to rip everything apart.Nearly didn't get it back together.Any idea?
In general the whole back plate needs to come off, after that all is easy. Usually unscrew all screws then carefully using expired credit card or a guitar pick to prey open the whole back plate. To put it back just reverse the procedure. The hard part is to pray not to break those tiny plastic pieces, careful, slow and gentile is the key.

TN panel has existed since the 90s, after all these ~30 years we can still see it that only means TN panel is NOT bad.

TN panel offers IPS or VA couldn't offer, privacy. People will have extremely difficult time to "peep" your screen due to the narrow viewing angle. TN panel is cheaper and faster, the downside is the color range not as wide. Brightness depends on back lite. No back lite all panels TN, IPS, VA will all become total darkness.

For most work we do TN panel is more than enough, unless you are doing color accuracy essential type of job like x-ray, MRI in medical field, graphics, photographic media.
