Measuring protein powder by servings is bogus. Give me the weight.
What?! Why?

I had a 5 pound protein powder that was 25 servings. I also had a 2 pound mix that was also 25 servings.

In your example, your 5 lb powder will have more non-protein ingredients in it. Think: flavors, sweeteners, emulsifiers, gums, etc. Look at the nutrition/supplement facts panel & see how much a scoop weighs (wheys?) and compare the two.

BTW - non-protein ingredients is not necessarily a bad thing. Many times, it'll help a product taste better.

Yes I know all that, but Mike called serving size bogus when it's how you should measure it because of all the reasons you listed.

That 5-lb product sounds like a mass gainer, not a protein powder

Is there a particular brand you recommend? I like this idea a lot!
Now Foods has a 7 lb tub (96 servings with 24g protein per serving) for ~$50. This isn't exactly the healthiest thing, but I've been using 5 scoops a day in a smoothie…completely masks the flavor, and makes it so I don't have to pay much attention to my protein intake. However, ymmv depending on your blender - even my vitamix struggles a bit making smoothies this large

I bought some Vega chocolate powder the last time it showed up here in the 1.5 lb size. Great stuff, I love it!
I'm trying to buy vanilla and also chocolate this time, but it seems like it would only allow me to clip the coupon one time. Anyone else having this issue?

Plant, rice, etc proteins contain a lot of heavy metals like lead and other contaminants due to the milling process. Go to https://labdoor.com/rankings/protein to see how contaminated your protein might be!

Just moments ago I tried the unflavored version for the first time and it's not bad. I'm used to plant protein tasting like bitter roots but this stuff is pretty balanced. Yes, it's not cost-efficient (at the normal price). And it may not be protein-efficient, but it's understandable considering the "filler" here is plant matter that contains micronutrients. My tub expires Jan 2024.

Vega is overpriced. If you're looking for vegan checkout True Nutrition. You can customize with flavors, protein types, and amount of sweetener. They also have sales every once in a while.
