US Bank is known for a lot of random fees. I wouldn't count on this being so simple.

I've never had an issue with any USBank promotion.

Ease depends on what actually counts as direct deposits, if you're not looking to switch your payroll over to this just for the promo.

Had to call them because I never got promo. Rep "applied promo to my account" and I got the $400 bonus. I can't pull money out of the account, it won't let me. I have to login to my ally to pull money out. I don't trust US bank, canceling right away

I opened a US Bank checking account during the last promo and it took about 4 weeks after meeting the deposit criteria to get the bonus. Haven't had any issues with getting money in or out.

application denied. says they cannot verify I am who I say I am. Now I have to go in to a branch. grrrrr. nothing ever works properly.

Had to do some extra work last year because I am out of footprint (FL) - ended up opening a brokerage account first, which they are less fussy about. Still had to call customer service to get them to process the checking application. Bonus came through as expected, nice website and app, would do again if I were eligible. Maybe this one would be easier since the account is more online-oriented.

I've heard bad things about US Bank and to get the $500 bonus you need to direct deposit at least $6,000 in 60 days. I'll pass. The $300 from Truist was a lot easier.

Decided to go ahead for the $500, seems to be the best one my wife is eligible for at the moment. I did have to jump through the same hoops as last year - FL residents not eligible unless you have an existing relationship. Easiest solution is to open a self-directed brokerage account, they don't care where you live for Investment accounts. No funding required, now you have established a relationship with the bank. Went back through the checking application again, goes even faster as an existing client, able to login to pre-fill most of the app, approved immediately. Happy churning!
