You can generate points with this card more easily but AMEX has better lounge access. Boils down to do you how much do you travel.
annual fee is 550
It has never been 120k. The highest it's been is 100k

Since there is an AF of $550, does that mean this is really a $300 bonus?

1) Must be 48 months from your last bonus on ANY Sapphire card, to the open date of any Sapphire card

2) This is every year, and anything that codes as travel.

I just got approved for the CSR and want to do the trifecta. How long should I wait before I apply for the 2nd and 3rd cards?

How it will benefit if we transfer points to chase freedom card?
You wont benefit transferring to Freedom, you will benefit from transferring to Sapphire. That is where you get the benefit of the increase travel. So, say you max out purchases in a quarter for the freedom category, which will give you 7,500 points on max of $1,500 in purchases. If you transfer those to Sapphire Reserve, those points are now worth 1.5X for travel, or $112.50 on 7,500 points. That equates to 7.5% (112.50/1500).

Downgrade to a regular freedom, not a flex

Why does it matter which card you down grade to? As long as it's not a sapphire card, it should be good, right?

This or AMEX Plantium?
I prefer this over Amex.
Similar membership fee but I get more reward potential with Chase.

I have the old Freedom(5% back on rotating categories Grocery,Amazon,Walmart,Paypal, etc) and Ink Business Cash(5% on cable, cellphone plan, internet, office supply store) to maximize my reward then I transfer them to the Sapphire Reserve to purchase flights, rental, hotel etc. with 1.5x redemption ratio.
Just purchased a $1600 RT flight to South Korea with 80000 Ultimate points=$1200 and the $300 Travel expense credit automatically kicked in.

Great reward potential from everyday purchases, the automatic annual $300 credit pretty much for anything related to travel, and 1.5x redemption ratio for travels. Of course, with it being the premium card, it comes with all the trip cancellations, rental insurance, extra year warranty, price protection, concierge, Priority Pass, Doordash credit, 10x reward point on Lyft, TSA precheck application fee, etc.

When I had the Amex plat, it surely had more luxurious benefits than the Reserve ones, but I barely used them.

So how does the $550 annual fee offset the 80K points?

October 16, 2022 and got approved on this day. It was right before 80k bonus went into effect. I also read on a few sites that chase does not match higher bonus offers on their credit cards after getting approved for your current offer after the pandemic since at least 2020 so this might be the reason for denial.

I signed up on 9/17 with the 60K. Sent a secure message to see of I can still get the 80K if I meet the requirement. They said no. Called a few days later and the CSR made a note and told me it will auto give me 80K once I met the spend. I met the minimum spend on Friday. I already see 80K+ points pending to my account.

I signed up for an AMEX Platinum card to pay for my international honeymoon, and while some perks ended up working great, overall I feel the card shoehorns travel and isn't flexible enough. The $300 travel credit CSR uses sounds much better based on my use. I won't be using the AMEX $200 airline incidental credit this year. And while actually overseas, most places don't accept AMEX cards. With the CSR at least I could use the card WHILE traveling internationally wherever I want because it's a VISA card. That ended up mattering because I had to bring another CC with me and make sure it didn't have a foreign transaction fee. Good luck finding a CC with no foreign transaction fee that doesn't charge a membership fee

Save $550 to do things you want. $300 travel credit and $100 priority pass is nothing.

I have had both (currently have AMEX Platinum, closed CSR earlier this year) and I much prefer CSR. The transfer partners are much better and that is what I primarily use my points for.

The AF on the Platimum is way too high and they a lot of their benefits are superfluous and not worth the extra cost of the AF ($100 credit at Saks, $200 airline FEE credit where you have to choose an airline at the start and it only applies to incidental fees (unless you game it on United which could go away at any moment), Walmart+ credit, $200 hotel credit for hotels I would never stay at, Uber cash, Soulcycle credit). A bunch of benefits that I would otherwise not use.

CSR HAD some of that, but the fee is a lot less, and again, better transfer partners which is the big thing.
Thank you for the detailed information! We are thinking of get the CSR. Is it worth to get an additional card for spouse for $75? Or we better off opening two separate accounts (and pay $550 for each)?

If you do open two cards one thing to consider is that you would have to spend $8,000 in three months to get the sign up bonus for each. 80k points is pretty decent so that might be worth it if you can spend that much, unless you find a good way to manufacture spending.

The authorized user fee may or may not be worth it, depending upon your use case. We have done it before because when we all travel having two cards will allow us all to get into the priority pass lounge without an additional cost. Also, my wife is able to use the lounge when she travels without me. If you don't place much importance on lounge access the fee for another user might not be worth it. I don't know if there are many other benefits your spouse would miss out on without being an authorized user.

and why do you think the priority pass is only 99 dollars?

that 99 dollar you also have to add 32 dollar for each visit and for each person.

chase, at least the one i had before, is unlimited visit for any member and you can bring 2 guest, which is better than the 429 tier.

the value of this card depend entirely on how often you travel and where to. if you do international travel 5 times a year, this is a no brainier.

I applied for the card and it mentioned it was submitted for review. Closed the window and didn't know if there was a confirmation number or not. I didn't get any emails.
I think the last card I applied for got approved almost immediately.
Does that mean I got rejected? Lol
Wondering if anyone had any issues
