You can generate points with this card more easily but AMEX has better lounge access. Boils down to do you how much do you travel.
annual fee is 550
It has never been 120k. The highest it's been is 100k

Annual fees is $550.
Regular Safire card gives 60,000 points for spending $4000 in 3 months.

So are the 20k points and other benefits worth > $455?

Would 20k points mean $200 UR?
So we are still $255 higher?

Subtract the $300 travel credit right off the rip. And if you won't spend $300 in travel in a calendar (anniversary) year, then don't get this card.

Global entry became it comes with tsa pre.
I have GE and agree, although look into NEXUS [cbp.gov], if you can get approved for it. But be aware that you need to travel to a Canadian border entry point to do the interview, so it is not a viable option for everyone.

Travel credit only applies to fees like Clear etc right? Not for actual flight tickets?

No, it applies to anything coded as travel .. airline tickets, cruise deposit, drinks package for your cruise, etc. It is very liberally defined.

Could there be some other reason? For example, are you "over" with regards to Chase's 5/24 rule?
No, because the last time I opened or applied for a credit card was this Reserve card and it was over 4 years ago. I am going to go to the branch and see.

Had this card last year and closed it after using for almost 12 months. Customer service sucks. Go with amex platinum for better customer services and offers!

Spend $120k for 80,000 points doesn't seem brag-worthy.

For "almost" 12 months? Enjoy being banned by Chase for future bonuses, I guess.

How bad will it be to my credit score if I get this card and cancel after a year? I currently have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card (had it for 10+ years), and I would probably be canceling that one for this one. Overall, should I just stick the with Preferred? Or cancel and get this for a year, and downgrade back to Preferred after a year?
