I saw a review praising the folding screen, and apparently it works great for getting a huge screen in a small package. It's a genuinely cool feature to have. Reportedly, the fold didn't stand out at all.

That said, the detached keyboard/trackpad connects over Bluetooth and is laggy as all hell, takes FOREVER to connect on wake-from-sleep, and flexes so hard the trackpad clicks on its own. It SUCKS. Like REALLY bad.

Also, this sold for $3000 and has only 8GB RAM??? Who are these sickos who keep putting 8GB soldered in computers in 2022, and can I talk to their manager? Mad

RIGHT?!?!? They've hamstrung themselves (and worse, their potential customers) by doing that alone. I want to WANT one of these things, and as cool as the idea is, the execution just leaves too much lacking. After watching Mr.Mobile's review on YouTube, I also can't help but wonder if this wouldn't have made a better Chromebook for the OS, rather than Windows.

Or, Apple will just do it wrong as well, but they'll simply tell their customers they're "holding it wrong".
That's some next-level gaslighting.

How would this be for use as a tablet (most of the time / laptop minimally) to compete with the Surface Pro 9 or iPad Pro 12.9?

This doesn't offer more than a Fold4. The Fold4 gives you the experience of a mini tablet and functions as a slim phone when folded.

This? It doesn't quite understand what it is. If you want a full size tablet you'll get a full size tablet. Not this weird hybrid of a larger tablet opened and a medium sized tablet that loses function when folded.

It's a 1st Gen concept device. Asus has a similar one. Likely inspired by Microsoft and OEM partners to try to compete with mobile foldable devices.

Lenovo just came out with Gen 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwn6zK2o3YE), which is why this one is probably going on "sell".

With that said, if you got money to throw around, this sounds like a novel Windows tablet replacement device.

Soldered 8GB Memory is the dealbreaker for me on this one.
not soldered 8GB - the memory is actually inside the CPU. This was the Intel Lakefield CPU.
