I figured out how to get windows 11 installed and for the unit to be stable

Do all the updates for the system you can out-of-the-box for windows 10

Then go to Microsoft and use the Windows 11 download tool and to do an installation of windows 11

As soon as Windows 11 is up and running, go to the update section for windows and pause all windows updates immediately and allow no updates to occur

Download the Intel driver assistant program directly from Intel's website. You can google the tool. Run that tool to update any drivers - specifically the intel video driver to V31 or higher

Now download the 'show and hide updates' tool from Microsoft. Run it, and hide any Intel video driver updates that Microsoft wants to install as these will be older than the one you just installed from Intel directly. Be sure to uncheck the box under advanced options where it tries to automatically fix issues. We don't want that. We just want to hide the video driver update. And that is what is causing the issues…at least it was for me and other people I read about online.

When you hide the intel video driver update that windows wants to install, it will no longer try to install that particular driver…. Hidden updates are blocked from installing 👍

So now you can go back to the regular Windows update program and unpause it and continue with regular Windows updates.

I did all of the remaining windows 11 updates of the system and it is running very well… seems stable.

The key is to prevent Microsoft/windows from installing any version 30 or older of the Intel video driver… and instead, you use the Intel driver support tool to get the latest intel video driver - version 31.

Hope this helps. Took me about 10 reinstall's to get it all figured out, and I hope I can save someone else some headaches

The reviews are pretty bad about this device.
Wouldn't even think of buying this at that price.

Soldered 8GB Memory is the dealbreaker for me on this one.

I have been working with Lenovo since 2009 and I have seen them do this on several occasions. It will lose support by Lenovo pretty quickly. Meaning no updates.

I don't understand the fascination with folding screens lately. It just makes a major component to the device susceptible to breaking under mechanical stress for no good reason. Give me screens that display from edge to edge and attach magnetically or something, so I can expand the display area and not have it break after being used a few times.

12.9 ipad pro 2022 $1049 costco tomorrow or $799 ipad pro 2021 recent sales. laugh out loudlaugh out loud

Almost everyone I know that bought an ipad pro has it collecting dust. People want to read books but they just don't.

My mini 6 on the other hand has made my phone obsolete except when traveling and taking pictures.

I'd be in if it had cellular. Why even make something like this without cellular. Also make it half the size, with more RAM. It must be fun, getting paid to design and engineer computers, but they're all bad at it

I love my fold 4 and won't go back to anything that's not fold. I never had any problems with a flip or fold devices breaking on me.

When I go hiking, I don't carry much on me. I definitely don't want to carry a full sized or a half sized computer when I have higher priorities. I can carry my pocket tablet with me. It gives me a mini-tablet experience and a phone. It does two things that a phone or a laptop cannot do. I literally watching youtube on a good sized screen and emailing on the Fold4 that my old phone cannot do and I keep this in my pocket that my laptop cannot do.

The Lenova Fold? Give me a single situation where you will need this over a small laptop or can replace a phone at the same time. You probably can't because that situation is non-existent. It doesn't serve two real world purposes. No seriously, if you make a post, give me a single situation it can replace two things in one Lenova Fold device. So again, this product doesn't understand it's own identity all that well is the issue.

Bonus - The Fold4 camera function gives a camera function that NO regular phone in existence can do right now. Use the main camera, the powerful one, to take selfies and you get to see what's being in that selfie. This in itself is a selling point that gives it another edge over conventional phones.
When I go hiking, I don't bring any laptops with me...

I have this device, bought it new at $3K.

Windows 10 is horrible on it, 11 is better. There are issues with the processor power management and this thing turning on/off/freezing that 11 fixes...sort of.

Pen battery life is weird. Replaced pen with bamboo and that battery life was weird too.

It doesn't really have a wow factor because you either use it like a netbook and no one notices or you use it like a tablet and no one notices.

It does have 1 trick that is it's saving grace that I used all the time - because the bottom is a touchscreen and a good one at that, you can be on a zoom call talking like normal and take notes/share a live screen on your desk. This is amazing that most tablets can't do unless you have 2 monitors and most laptops can't do unless you have some sort of tablet. And it gets solid battery life doing this too - easily hours on zoom and tablet mode.

It is heavy. Like you think it's light but it has both heft and it's thick folded. But it is solid and the hinge and everything works well.

Would I get it again at $3k? Nope. Would I get it again at $1k? Absolutely, especially since they supposedly fixed all the drivers that bugged the first release. I am also looking at the new 16" but I really like this form factor better because it is so small.

It's not whether or not "you" will put it in your jean pockets, it's the fact that people can if they so want to.

Exactly, you just made my point. People carrying laptops and planners or they stow it away in a carrying case at those coffee shops/libraries you speak of. So in pretty much all situations someone is carrying a laptop, they're carrying the Lenova Fold. At any point they stow their laptop, they would also stow their Lenova Fold in a carrying case. There's almost no special circumstance where you can store the Lenova Fold or carry it and not do the same with a smaller laptop. I'm not saying there is absolutely no target audience for this product but it is way too niche. It's trying to create a problem so it can become the solution. It's too big for a portable experience without a need of a carrying case and it doesn't offer much over a smaller sized laptop. Again, I'm sure there is an audience for it but they'll need to revise their plan on what it wants to be that separates it into its own class of product.

The Fold4 in every circumstance you have a regular sized pocket, you no longer need to bring a carrying case. You have a mini-tablet that does not require anything extra as you'll almost always have your phone with you. It is an actual solution to a problem that people have. You can literally have an all digital library in this phone and take hand written notes since it functions as a tablet that's big enough for that purpose. So you can essentially go to college with literally just this phone on most days.
So this product essentially creates the solution of not having to bring anything else with you but your phone.
Its a lighter laptop - easier to handle so you wouldnt think twice if you want to bring it a long or not. Good luck with your fold, i don't think they nor many of the larger phones really designed to be stored in pockets - being an engineer and even more my studies was materials science, the forces/stresses experienced by a phone while in the pocket scares me especially since they have curved screens and what not.

I haven't had a single phone that incorporated any kind of linkage that didn't break on me. They weren't fancy things that had screens that bent either. It was stuff where a keypad slide out from behind the screen and things like that. That Fold 4 of yours has only been out for 2 months. Come see me in a year or two after you've folded it and unfolded it a bunch in normal use.

I wouldnt put a fold4 in my pocket, especially if i am only wearing jeans - i rarely even put my s22 ultra in my pocket and i even have that in a folding wallet style case. I see ppl carrying day planners/laptops and such when near coffee shops/libraries areas where you see ppl working on the go.

I see more use carrying around a portable 15" screen and my cellphone than the fold if i REALLY needed the screen space.
I carry a fold 4 in my pocket daily. No issues.

Can confirm my gigantic iPad pro is rarely used. Yet my kindle paperwhite and z fold 4 are used daily for reading.

Exactly! How do you like the fold 4 for reading? I definitely can see a use for that to combine my phone + ipad. How does it compare to the paperwhite in terms of fatigue and comfort for long reading sessions at home? Thanks

How would this be for use as a tablet (most of the time / laptop minimally) to compete with the Surface Pro 9 or iPad Pro 12.9?
More like an i3 Surface Pro 7 would be your comparable. The iPad Pro is not really a comparable, because iPadOS and Windows are so completely different.
