How's this one compared with the 980 Pro?

This reputable drive is by far the lowest NVME TLC 4TB before black Friday.

TweaTown has great SSD reviews/charts and has this beating the 980 pro in multiple segments. If I was in the market, I'd just get the cheapest of the two.

I'm grabbing the 2TB for my ps5 if it gets any lower for Black Friday it'll be $200 so $9 difference.

Also saw recent article that SSDs could 1/2 by next year in price.

Orrrr... supply chain issues could double the price. I'm sure you can find articles supporting either prediction. Best to buy what you want rather then trying to game the market. I feel like its ultimately a losing game.

When did WD start adding "X" moniker to the end of the name of this product? I already own both the 500GB and 1TB last Gen models which don't have it. Guess it's meant to give it some street cred or something πŸ˜‚

Try finding an article that says supply chain issues could be a problem anytime in the next year….

The chip glut will be here for a while.

Eh, not worth waiting if you need it now.

The 980 pro is aging and is being replaced by the 990 Pro that is very expensive at the moment.

The SKH P41, Kingston Fury Renegade, the 850x, 980 Pro are the top dogs right now with slightly different tuning for performance but very little advantage over each other. I would buy the best deals amongst them.

The WD has the advantage of having each model also come with a variation with heatsink attached if that is a requirement and you don't want to go through third party heat sinks.

The obvious answer is buy now if you need one and wait if you don't.

Thanks for the heads up. Here's the link.

True, but many seeing this deal might be on the fence where it's more of a want than a need. I personally want to see PCI 5.0 interface saturated before getting new storage.
