Noob question. What is the difference between 'Microsoft Office Professional 2021' and 'Microsoft 365 Personal | 12-Month Subscription, 1 person' ?

One time fee with more restrictions, vs ongoing, subscription based support

Have done both and dislike both, but feel the one-time is less annoying

i remember buying code from stacksocial, 3 months later my office show inactive,

tbh too much hassle for $35, might as well get office 365 for 5 devices and call it a day

I was thinking why this is so cheap compare to retail price other than they are selling hacking version which eventually they figure out and de-activate . I didn't buy but wondering how you activate it with the code while everything is like subscription now.

Does the license still work if I change computers down the road?

No. This is for one device only.

What about if you have to reformat your computer, does this attach to the windows key on the system when activated so you are able to reinstall on the same device after reformatting?

From Microsoft: "If you have a retail license and need to move it to a new computer, uninstall it from the old computer and install and activate it on the new computer. The retail licenses are limited to one computer and cannot be moved to new computers frequently like the subscription version, so deactivation is not necessary. You are limited in the number of times and how frequently you can reactivate it on new hardware (once every 90 days)."

I would contact StackSocial if it was deactivated. I bought from a different seller and mine is still working and linked to my Microsoft account.

One time. I still have Office Professional Plus 2010 running on an old laptop.

365 is an annual subscription to the current version.

This is what would in Olden Days come in a box that eventually loses support and security updates. But that could take years.

There has not been much difference in versions in a very long time.
