Got the 32gb for $99
I have a few of the previous generations (4k first gen 2017) in 64gb and never needed the extra space.
I've used Roku, firetstick, builtin sony and samsung streamers. Apple TV is my favorite by far. You can use your regular tv remote to control apple tv. If you have an iphone it will auto pause tv when you get a call i you want.
4K (first generation)
At an Apple Special Event on September 12, 2017, Apple announced the Apple TV 4K which supports 2160p output, HDR10, Dolby Vision, and includes a faster Apple A10X Fusion chip supporting HEVC hardware decoding. Dolby Atmos support was added in tvOS 12. Following the announcement of the new models, the 64 GB version of the Apple TV HD was discontinued. Externally it is similar to the 4th generation model, with the only differences being the addition of vents on the base, the removal of the USB-C port, and the addition of a tactile white ring around the Menu button on the included Siri Remote.
4K (second generation)
On April 20, 2021, Apple announced an updated Apple TV 4K with the A12 Bionic chip, support for high frame rate HDR, HDMI 2.1, and Wi-Fi 6. Its HDMI port supports ARC and eARC, which allows other sources plugged into the television to output audio through Apple TV, including to AirPlay speakers like HomePod. It also has the ability to pair with the ambient light sensor on iPhones with Face ID to optimize its color output, a feature that was also extended to older Apple TVs with tvOS 14.5. AirPlay supports high frame rate HDR playback, allowing videos shot on the iPhone 12 Pro in Dolby Vision 4K 60fps to be mirrored in full resolution. Following the announcement, the previous Apple TV 4K with an A10X Fusion chip was discontinued.
The model also comes with a thicker redesigned Siri Remote with a circular touchpad with navigational buttons, as well as power and mute buttons. The remote does not include an accelerometer and gyroscope, which were present in the previous Siri Remote, making it incompatible with some games. The remote is compatible with previous generation tvOS-based Apple TVs and ships with an updated SKU of the Apple TV HD.
4K (third generation)
On October 18, 2022, Apple announced an updated Apple TV 4K with the A15 Bionic chip, reduced weight and dimensions, and support for HDR10+. It comes in two configurations, a Wi-Fi-only model with 64 GB of storage, and a higher-priced 128GB model with Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a Thread radio. The included Siri Remote charges via USB-C instead of Lightning.
I still use my AppleTV from 2018 and it's faster than my 2021 Firestick. You'll get 6 years out of this so it's worth 3 firesticks plus you won't get bombarded by amazon and can do screen mirroring if you have an iphone. what would you rather have?
Anyone have issues with youtube on this? Playing any youtube video screen goes black for a few seconds, and the video is already a few seconds in. This is the only device that does this on my tv. It's obviously trying to figure out which video format to show, but every other device waits until the screen is back up to play

I had this issue. Make sure you have your main resolution 4K SDR and then enable frame matching and content. Won't happen anymore!
I have an Nvidia shield, but I have always been curious about Apple TV. I am deciding whether it's worth trying it out. Also, is it possible to add Ethernet in the future? I know I can do this with the fire stick.

This version (2021) has it built in already. For the 2022 version, the higher end one for $20 more than the base has Ethernet.

This has been driving me nuts on *one* of my OG ATV 4Ks. Started a few months ago. For me it happens when one ad ends and another starts and also when an ad ends and the main video starts.
I have 3 OG ATV 4Ks and 1 2021 in the house. One *one* of the three OG ATVs does this. The other two do not, also the 2021 does not. The one that does have a problem is connected to a 2019 Samsung QLED. I suspect the issue is actually with the Samsung QLED, specifically the last firmware Samsung might have pushed out on it.
Stupid question but if I'm my laptop (Windows) looking at Youtube with Chromecast/Android TV or whatever I can hit the "Play on TV" button and send it to the TV.
Can I do that with Apple TV? I'm seeing mixed results.

But it was Killing my eyeballs because I've just gotten so spoiled over the last few years with the picture quality of these newer shows.
