Although you're probably not eligible for the bonus, I would open a Performance Savings account and move your money out of the Money Market account into the new account so that you can get the better rate. This is what I had to do. I wasn't paying attention for awhile and didn't realize they created a new savings account with a better rate.

This can all be done online and will only take a couple of days to complete.

Stocks not a good hedge against inflation? Where were you during GME, OSTK, TSLA, etc? Even 5k in any would've landed you groundbreaking gains.

Correct. If you are just looking to park money in a savings/money market account and the amount you are looking to keep there is not $100,000, then there is no point in doing this deal. It is exactly the same - 1% bonus. You'll just lose out on the interest you would have otherwise made during the time you are transferring money to CapitalOne, and like you said, it is tiered. $20,000 gets you $200 at Ally, only $100 at CapitalOne. Now, if you have over $50,000, namely $100,000, that you wish to gain interest on, then you definitely should move money to CapitalOne since there is no maximum, whereas Ally caps out at $500 (which is 1% on $50,000) with $100,000 you'd get $500 at Ally, $1000 at CapitalOne.

In summary:
$1000 (minimum to trigger deal at Ally) up to exactly $99,999: stick with Ally
Exactly $100,000: CapitalOne.

This Jan 2019 look back period, that effectively amount to ~4 yrs. Does that mean next year their promo will be jan 2020? Or like discover, one bonus per lifetime?
