Avoid this phone like a plague. While the phone is great while it works and so is the camera, I constantly have issues with dropped calls and incoming calls going straight to voice mail … I didn't believe the reviews about bad reception and still bought it and now I am outside of the return window

The description clearly says "Unlocked". What reviews are you referring to?

Turn off 5g. I have the same issue with calls going to VM. I'm on TMobile
Turn off a main feature on your phone so the most basic feature on your phone works

About this Item:
  • Google Pixel 6a adapts to you; it's super fast and secure and powered by Google Tensor, the first chip designed by Google just for Pixel
  • Unlocked Android 5G phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[1]; works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
  • Pixel's fast-charging all-day battery adapts to you and saves power for the apps you use most[2]
  • Take amazing photos with Pixel's 12 megapixel camera and tools like Magic Eraser[3], Motion Mode, and Portrait Mode
  • With Google Tensor, your phone launches apps fast, pages and images load quickly, and everything runs smoothly
  • When you plug it in, Pixel 6a charges super fast[4]; with just a few minutes of charging, your phone gets hours of power (adapters sold separately)
  • Live Translate helps you translate live video captions, private chats, and messages, and signs in up to 55 languages right on your cell phone[5]
  • With IP67 protection, Pixel 6a can take a little water and dust[7], so you can take it almost anywhere you go
  • Privacy and security are built in to your phone; the Titan M2 chip and the Google Tensor security core add an extra layer of hardware security to help make your Pixel phone more resilient to attacks[8]

The in screen fingerprint sensor on this is crap. I've been locked out of my work apps more than once because of it. Beware

It's really not that bad as long as you remember to cycle airplane mode every time you leave a building or switch cell phone towers. 5G speeds are roughly comparable to 4G when you use data immediately after cycling the airplane mode. It's a non-issue because the phone works well when connected to WiFi. You can store up to 4 fingerprints and will likely need to store the same finger multiple times in order to improve accuracy. You should be able to get that to work reliably 50% of the time. A second phone is necessary to use GPS to avoid any accidents. Other than these minor issues, it's a great phone!
Wait, why second phone for GPS? What does a second phone do?

Perhaps that's it... My T-Mobile 5G doesn't get data speeds. I also have Wi-Fi calling turned on and it's the primary calling and maybe that also affects the call quality

Try it out. I'm sure it will help. Maybe a sw update will fix the issue.

I also think it's mainly an issue with the subpar 5G signal from T-Mobile. It's not true 5G and that maybe the issue.

I don't think it's a signal strength issue. Phone needs to hand over properly between WFC and 5g/LTE. This is where i think the problem is.

Fyi - I test phones for OEMe. I will likely report this to Google.

6a owner and can echo what others have said about dropped calls and bad reception. I turned off 5G which has helped reception, but I paid for a feature I can't use because Google used a crappy modem. Worse I can't trade the phone in for something better yet because it appears to be too new.

If you use your phone as a phone to make actual calls on actual cell towers...buy something else. If not maybe you'll like it for the camera or something.

Google puts out trash. 6pro and now 6a.

People are always hoping. Facts are that pixel 2xl was the last good device they had and they did not produce it.
