Avoid this phone like a plague. While the phone is great while it works and so is the camera, I constantly have issues with dropped calls and incoming calls going straight to voice mail … I didn't believe the reviews about bad reception and still bought it and now I am outside of the return window

The description clearly says "Unlocked". What reviews are you referring to?

Google puts out trash. 6pro and now 6a.

People are always hoping. Facts are that pixel 2xl was the last good device they had and they did not produce it.
My 4a 5g was one of the best smart phones I ever owned. The 2 and 3 I had before that were also very decent. Your statement is ignorant and unfounded.

6a is having a rough start but software updates have been drastically helping with those launch issues.

Can't decide if I should buy these now, or trade in our Pixel 4s for 7's.

Trading would be cheaper so obviously the better option, but I was hoping this would be a Christmas present for my son and I obviously can't trade his phone in now.

Anyone have any insight on if the trade-in deals will still be available for a 7 (not pro) a week or two before Christmas? And if not, do you think a six will be this cheap again at that time? 😬😬😬 Maybe I should just get these and return if I'm able to do a trade-in deal?

I received a Pixel 6 in "Used - Acceptable" condition a few days ago for $299- decided to spin the dice vs. buying the 6a at $349. The phone is in great condition with a few minor marks on the edge of the camera bar. You can get a 6a for as low as $225 right now ($254 in Very Good condition). I think they still have the Pixel 6 used for $299. Note the warranty is not the same as buying new, though.

Might look at the pixel 7 trade in program. My understanding is the 7 fixes the antenna reception problems of the 6 line. 😥

Upgraded 4a 5G to P7Pro. I have GoogleFi and a crappy 5G reception at my place. P7Pro drains the battery a lot on the mobile network while 4a 5G didn't without any adjustments. P7Pro not draining battery only when I switched it to LTE only. So the upgraded modem didn't help me much there.

I don't think anyone here will be able to accurately predict future trade-in deals.

I just got an unlocked Pixel 7 pro on the Mint deal for $589 (plus fees) including a year of service. You could either sell the service (the SIM can be used on another phone) or use it yourself. No trade required for this deal.

$222 out the door thanks to the $100 credit for my Pixel 7 purchase. Now I have to hide it until Christmas. Enjoy

They said they were updating the towers and in order to use WiFi calling you still need a sliver of actual cell signal to utilize it.
That's bullshit because I have travelled overseas and there was no signal and I was still able to make calls through wifi. Wifi calling works only when you don't have a cellular network available to establish a call, not otherwise.

Right there on the Target site where this is purchased. In the reviews a couple say that they did not receive an unlocked from verified purchasers.

Example:
Not Unlocked

Would not recommend

AJ - 9 days ago, Verified purchaser

This is not the unlocked version. I spent two days without service. After speaking with my carrier, and google, both of them informed me that Target is not selling the unlocked version of this phone. This absolutely should not be sold/marketed as "unlocked"

I'm not sure it's the best idea to give any weight to a review from someone who purchased a cell phone from Target.

I have a Pixel 5a and it's running perfect for the most part battery life is great, the phone was wonky but Android 13 and the updates seem to have fixed all issues. The only gripe is the gps the screen rotates like crazy and it does seem to get confused between left and right but nothing major enough to be not usable annoying still riding on the interstate on a straight road the map will make a 360 turn and I am like what the heck! But do like the reception no issues there, battery life is tremendous, headphones jack and the rear fingerprint scanner works 100 percent of the times. I guess I should hold on to it as long as it doesn't break or becomes too outdated to use. And oh yeah I preferred the Pixel 5a over a One Plus 8

Very solid mid range phone here. For the people complaining about the calls going to voicemail are we sure that just isn't the overaggressive call screening that comes with Pixel phones.

I literally never get SPAM calls anymore but it will take a few not SPAM calls to screening and then VM.

If you ain't calling from a known number text me first lol

The 7 looks like it fixed the bugs plaguing the 6 . . . Google just needs to put that in the a series form factor.

I'll add my two cents after this has been my wife's primary phone since pretty much launch. No problems with calls or texts but she's usually using Marco Polo anyway lol. It survived being run over in a parking lot and sitting in water for a couple of hours! The frame is a little bit bent but no cracks at all. The fingerprint reader is as atrocious as was reported, and we ended up disabling that feature. The camera is excellent, the screen is a little bit dim and subdued, and the speakers are very good.

Pixel software is great. The hardware is what ruins it. I don't doubt they are better than most Moro or htc, I hated my moto g7. But for the price you can find substantially better phones with better Cs.

Google doesn't even have a phone number to call if I have an account login issue. I got locked out for days. Phone died and all I could do was twiddle my thumbs waiting for emails response. Google fi charged me before I even activated the sim and claimed they couldn't reverse it as I used their service (wtf!)

I have since switched to apple and it is phenomenal. Any small issue with anything including hardware I walk into the store and free replacement on the spot. Samsung is more painful but has always come through for me. Google is just crap for me.

How do you get locked out of a google account? Like reset password wasn't an option?

If u have a screen protector on it, make multiple finger prints of each thumb.

I say success rate is like 95% now with the only time it really needing a pin unlock is if the hands have moisture on them

Worth it to go from the S20 FE to it? I have the same phone and for $10 I would definitely do the upgrade rather than going to Pixel 7 for a few hundred.
Yeah I think it was worth it. The specs are very similar but the tensor chip and photos made it worth it for me. I also know the S20 Fe is older and value will keep going down so it was a no-brainer for me to own it outright for $10
